[The episode starts with Scheherazade reading the story about a magic bottle with a genie inside.]
Scheherazade: Since half past the beginning of time, men have had wishes. Dreams of wealth, power, love and all that can be desired. Tales are told of magic forces that turn wishes into reality. One such tale involves a bejeweled bottle, a magic genie and three wishes. It is a tale told time and again. And told this day about a man named Jon Arbuckle...
[The story starts with Garfield, Odie, Jon and Liz enjoying the sunny weather at the beach.]
Liz: Odie seems to be having a good time.
Jon: Don't go too far, Odie! [Odie suddenly stops chasing the butterfly.] How are you enjoying the beach, Garfield?
Oh, it's not so bad, especially when you bring everything you need from home. [shows the fridge on the wagon towed by Jon’s car] You can do this if you have a truck… and a ten-mile extension cord.
[Garfield opens the fridge to get more food and sits down on the beach to eat it. Odie is chasing the butterfly towards the lighthouse area.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] Down the beach, the puppy dog was there when a glistening bottle washed up on the shore. [Odie picks up a mysterious bottle on the shore and runs back to the beach] It was so attractive, so magical, that he had to take it back to his master.
Liz: Sorry, I have to get back to the clinic.
Jon: Bye, Liz.
[Odie comes back to Jon holding the bottle in his mouth.]
Jon: What did you find, boy? [Odie hands over the bottle to Jon] I can't make out most of the writing but there's something on here about… "unleash the genie"... "three wishes". You find silly stuff on the beach.
Garfield: You sure do.
[Jon throws the bottle inside the trash can]
Garfield and Jon: [suddenly wakes up] Three wishes?
[Garfield and Jon fights over who gets the bottle with three wishes in the trashcan and on the beach.]
Jon: Give it to me, it’s mine! I got it! Garfield, do you think it's possible? Three wishes! I know just what I'd wish for.
Garfield: So do I!
Jon: Riches beyond compare… [the scene changes to Jon’s imagination of becoming rich] Fame all around the world… And success in everything I do.
[The scene changes to the beach.]
Garfield: Lasagna… [the scene changes to Garfield’s imagination of lasagna] More lasagna… And even more lasagna.
[The scene changes back to the beach, where Garfield and Jon fight over the bottle. Garfield manages to snatch the bottle and tries to open it on the beach.]
Garfield: What are we waiting for?
[Jon immediately stops Garfield from opening the bottle on the beach, and takes it from him.]
Jon: No, no. Not here. Let's take it home and open it there.
Garfield: Oh, wait. What about the… Never mind. We can just wish for new ones.
[Jon drives Garfield and Odie back home out of the beach.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] Jon Arbuckle hurried home, and there, he decided to do a bit of research before uncorking the bejeweled bottle.
[Inside the house, Jon is researching online about the mysterious bottle on the computer.]
Garfield: So with my first wish, I'll wish for a million more wishes. And just before I use all of them up, I'll wish for another million, and another, and another.
Jon: It says here the legend of the genie in the bottle goes back thousands of years. "Some genies are good and some are bad." "To get rid of a bad genie..."
Garfield: Never mind that. I have my first hundred and ninety-three wishes all set to go.
[Garfield throws the bottle to Jon.]
Jon: All right. Here goes...
[Jon tries to uncork the bottle and falls off the chair while uncorking the bottle.]
Garfield: "Awww" is right, pup. I haven't been so disappointed since Jon made eggplant parmesan.
Jon: Well, it was kind of a silly dream. Imagine... a magic genie in a bottle. Come on. [throws the bottle behind him, causing a loud eruption] I'll go make us some eggplant parmesan.
[Omar the genie comes out of the bottle, causing an earthquake inside the house.]
Omar: Who released me from the prison of the Bejeweled Bottle?
Jon: I did! I did! My name is Jon Arbuckle! And for my first wish, I would like...
Omar: Silence! I am Omar!
Garfield: Omar? What kind of name is that for a genie?
Omar: Thank you for releasing me, Jon Arbuckle. And now, you shall grant me three wishes!
Jon: Me? No, you've got it backwards. You're supposed to grant me three wishes.
Omar: [causing an earthquake] Silence! Are you going to grant me three wishes or do I have to turn you into a frog?
Jon: What's your first wish?
Omar: I want… I want lasagna.
Garfield: Hey! He took my wish.
Jon: Lasagna?
Omar: I have been locked in that bottle for hundreds of years. I'm hungry, get me lasagna! Fifty pounds of it!
Jon: Lasagna? Well, at least I know how to get that.
Garfield: Hey, tall, dark and smokey! You have all these magic powers. How come Jon has to get you what you want?
Omar: I like being waited on.
Garfield: Okay. That I understand.
Jon: [speaking on the phone] Vito? Jon Arbuckle. I need fifty pounds of lasagna. That's right. Half my usual order.
[Vito immediately drives to Jon’s house with his truck, delivering fifty pounds of lasagna to Jon’s house for Omar.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] In no time at all, Omar's first wish was granted.
[Omar is eating fifty pounds of lasagna on the dining table. Garfield tries to take the lasagna, but Odie is stopping him by pulling him back.]
Garfield: Are you going to eat that?
Omar: Yes. [stops eating] Arbuckle!
Jon: Yes, your genieness, sir?
Omar: For my second wish, I want dancing girls.
Jon: Dancing girls? I can't find dancing girls.
Omar: You want to be a frog?
Jon: I can find dancing girls. Dancing girls… dancing girls… Where am I going to get dancing girls?
[Jon looks at the telephone for the opportunity to find dancing girls]
Liz: [speaking on the phone] Hello?
Jon: [speaking on the phone] Hi, Liz, it's me. Liz, would you like to do me a big favor?
[Liz comes over to Jon’s house to fulfill his big favor. She dances in front of Omar, so Jon does not get transformed into a frog.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] Soon, Omar's second wish was granted, sort of...
Omar: Very good, very good! I vote yes!
Liz: Jon, remind me again why I'm doing this.
Jon: So your boyfriend doesn't get turned into a frog.
Liz: Oh, I knew there had to be a good reason.
Jon: Omar, sir… Could we get your third wish over with now?
Omar: Certainly. For my third wish, I would like… [laughs] A million more wishes! [laughs]
Garfield: He keeps stealing my wishes.
Omar: I want more food, more dancing girls! And buy me videogames! And cluck like a chicken!
[Jon clucks like a chicken.]
Jon: Garfield… What am I going to do?
Garfield: Probably live on a lily pad and eat flies.
Jon: Genie or no genie, I've got to stand up to him. Omar! Whatever it is, the answer is no! I'm not granting you any more wishes!
[Omar uses his spell to transform Jon into a frog. Odie mutters sadly about Jon being transformed into a frog.]
Garfield: You're right, Odie. I have to do something.
Scheherazade: [narrates] The clever cat thought and thought, trying to conceive a plan that would…
[Garfield interrupts Scheherazade from inside the book.]
Garfield: Hey, lady! I'm trying to think here.
Scheherazade: Sorry.
Garfield: Odie, Jon found something on the Internet earlier about how to get rid of a genie. Come on!
[Garfield and Odie are researching online on the computer about how to get rid of a bad genie.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] It took him but moments to find it.
Garfield: Let’s see here? “To get rid of a bad genie, you must get him to say his name backwards. He will disappear and you will be granted one wish as your reward.” Wow! I even get a wish. But how do I get him to say his name backwards?
Omar: I want more food! More food!
Scheherazade: [narrates] That was when the clever feline got his idea.
Garfield: I've got an idea. We're going down to Vito's to get more food.
[Garfield and Odie run downstairs to go to Vito’s pizzeria, while the frog (Jon) enters hopping inside the house.]
Scheherazade: [narrates] The cat and dog hurried to the place known as Vito's Pizzeria. [Vito is using a laptop to print off a special menu for Omar] There, they convinced the one named Vito to print up a special menu just for them. [Garfield and Odie ran back home with the menu] Then, they hurried home...
Omar: Omar wants food! If I don't get my food wish soon, I'm going to turn someone into an aardvark!
Garfield: Bet you can't spell it. Here, Omar! A menu from Vito's! Just pick out whatever you want!
Omar: [snatches the menu from Garfield] I want everything! I want the spaghetti! I want the ravioli! I want the pizza! I want the ramo! [turns around to Garfield] What's "ramo?"
Garfield: “Ramo” is “Omar” backwards!
[After Omar says his name backwards, this causes him to be sucked inside the bottle, with Odie holding the bottle.]
Omar: Oh, no! You tricked me! You tricked me into saying my name backwards! You'll be sorry! You'll be sorry! [high pitched voice] I'll turn you into a slug! I'll be back!
Garfield: Put a cork in it, fella. [Odie places the cork to close the bottle] He's gone, Odie. We'll take the bottle back and throw it in the ocean.
Scheherazade: And remember, Garfield. You have a wish.
[Garfield appears out of the book.]
Garfield: Thank you, narrator lady! She's right, Odie. I have a wish. I can wish for anything! I can wish for money, I can wish for lasagna! I can wish for money and lasagna! I can wish for power and fame and more lasagna and success and...
Liz: Garfield...
[The frog (Jon) is ribbiting on the table.]
Garfield: [sighs] But I guess I have to wish to get Jon back to the way he was. [the frog continues ribbiting] I wish… I wish everything was the way it was this morning!
[Garfield’s wish gets everyone teleported back to the beach and reverted Jon to its normal self.]
Liz: Odie seems to be having a good time.
Jon: Don't go too far, Odie! How are you enjoying the beach, Garfield?
[Odie chases the butterfly towards the lighthouse area and sees a mysterious bottle in the ocean.]
Scheherazade: And so there is this lesson. Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it again and again and again...
[The episode ends with Scheherazade laughing evilly as she fades away.]
