“Wait here Junior, I'll be right back!„
— Vic to Garfield right before leaving him
Vic is the father of Garfield and the deuteragonist of The Garfield Movie.
Physical Appearance[]
Vic is a large and muscular tomcat (potentially an Exotic Shorthair-Maine Coon hybrid), resembling his son facially and with a similar, but desaturated fur color scheme. Apart from body shape, Vic has longer fur than Garfield, dark brown stripes, and unlike the latter, has countershading with a lighter shade of fur on his belly and neck.
Personality[]
Vic is very similar to Garfield, with him even eating food the same way Garfield does. He loves his son Garfield, and will do anything to protect him. Although, unlike Garfield, Vic is more of an outdoor cat who is very adventurous.
Unlike Garfield, Vic is more of an outdoor cat who is very adventurous out in public, fatherly and brave, though much like his own son, he is prone to slacking and being lazy. Despite his tubby build and similar easygoing attitude to his son, he is thrill-seeking and intelligent first and foremost. Vic was able to prioritize jumping on a train over everything else during his adventure with Garfield, as he decided on a perfect spot to jump on a train from quicker than the latter.
Role[]
The Garfield Movie[]
Vic is Garfield's estranged father. He first appears when he rescues Garfield and Odie from Nolan and Roland, who've kidnapped them. Garfield is angry at Vic for abandoning him as a kitten, but Vic explains he only left him because he thought Jon would be a better provider for Garfield.
Vic helps Garfield and Odie with a heist at Lactose Farms, forced by Jinx, a cat seeking revenge on him. Throughout their adventure, Vic tries to bond with Garfield. Eventually, Garfield forgives Vic after learning the truth about his past.
In the end, Vic shows his love for Garfield by risking his life to save him. Garfield rescues Vic, and they reconcile. Vic moves in with Garfield, Odie, and Jon, becoming part of their family.
