Having completed upgrading image galleries in one of my favorite Garfield and Friends Season 6 episode, I noticed that this particular episode differs considerably from the older episodes. The list is provided below.

Screencap dimensions[]

The vast majority of the GAF episodes provide 1920x1440 pixel screencaps, when obtained through VeeDub64. The Life and Times of the Lasagna Kid ones retain the 1440 pixel height, however, they are considerably narrower than the rest - the width is 1884 pixels, including a black bar to the right. The differences are visible below:

Both screencaps were obtained through the same method. Penelope's screencap lacks the black bar to the right, while Mona's screencap is visibly narrower.

I'd combine this dimension differences with dispersing the episode production between California, USA, Tokyo in Japan, and Seoul, South Korea.

Marked screencaps[]

Amongst the screencaps rejected for posting in the galleries, I found two of them with strange markings, as if someone slashed a pen upon animation cells.

This is the first time I see something like this in a cartoon. When I watched the episode from VHS tape in slow mode, those slashes also appear.

Dust on animation cels[]

Another goof done by animators isn't a brand new one - I've seen this on other GAF episode screencaps I worked on.

One thing makes me wonder here - how is that possible, that nobody from the animation staff checked the cels before merging them?

Animation covers those well, those appear when screencapped. Hopefully, such flaws are easily fixed in Photoshop.

Fluid backgrounds[]

Last but not least, at least two scenes in the episode contain an effect, when the background changes color tones. I'm providing the most apparent one below:

This particular animation flaw doesn't look bad, still one could ask if such fluid background effect was intended.

Conclusion[]

The separation of production between three countries did make an impact of Garfield and Friends, which results in such a lack of consistence as listed above. "The Life and Times" aren't the only episode suffering from those, it seems most of the series contain at least one flaw like this.

Still, I don't find those drawbacks as serious obstacles in enjoying the cartoon. It remains the good level even despite the goofs made by animators.
