Toon Disney was a digital cable and satellite channel owned by the Walt Disney Company via Disney Channels Worldwide. As a spinoff of Disney Channel, it targeted children with both live-action and animated programming.
Launched on April 18, 1998, Toon Disney aired shows from Disney television blocks, including The Disney Afternoon, One Saturday Morning and ABC Kids, as well as Disney Channel. Both Toon Disney and ABC Family aired the block Jetix, which launched on February 14, 2004. Movies were part of the schedule; interstitial programming that followed included Mickey Mouse Works and Schoolhouse Rock! The channel also aired numerous acquired shows, especially those from DIC Entertainment, ABC and Fox Kids (the latter two of which were purchased by Disney).
On February 13, 2009, Toon Disney was rebranded as Disney XD.
