The Longest Doze is an episode from the sixth season of Garfield and Friends.
Synopsis[]
Garfield tries to break the record for the world's longest nap.
Plot[]
While watching the Gazorninplat Book of World Records on TV, Garfield finds that the longest nap in the world is 19 hours and 10 minutes by Rip Van Krellman. The show announces that anyone who can break a record will win a thousand dollars. This encourages Garfield to break the record.
Fred comes by to monitor the nap. When Garfield prepares to sleep, he cannot seem to do it. He tells Jon to get out his slideshow equipment and Jon shows his slides of one of his trips, causing Garfield to fall asleep.
19 hours and 2 minutes have passed and the record is almost broken. A commotion is being caused by road construction, a fire engine, a wrecking ball, and a parade. Jon tries to keep them quiet; despite his lack of success, Garfield manages to sleep through them all. The record is almost broken. Rip Van Krellman comes in with a tray of lasagna and the aroma wakes Garfield up, thus costing him the record and the thousand dollars. Garfield states some things are worth waking up for.
