The Garfield Musical is an episode from the sixth season of Garfield and Friends.
Synopsis[]
Garfield learns that he should focus more attention on Penelope than on food.
Plot[]
Penelope is grooming her forelock, while waiting for Garfield in the rear rooms of Momma's Pizzeria. Penelope admits in a song that she has no idea why she is dating Garfield, as he is late on appointments and dates with him are either boring or she has to pay for his meals. When Garfield finally appears with a guitar, Penelope shows signs of hope that he would take her to one of places she picked, but it turns out that the date shall go on as it does every week - Garfield will be singing to Penelope at the restaurant she lives in.
Penelope gets upset by the repetitive nature of the date and leaves the restaurant in disgust. Garfield follows her while still performing his song. A disgruntled Penelope begins to complain about the date, when she suddenly discovers Mister Rock and Roll with his bandsmen performing in the nearby Kit Kat Klub. Penelope heads there, while Garfield seems unbothered by the events around him. While watching the feline bandsmen performance at the Kit Kat Klub, Penelope falls in love with the band leader, who apparently has charmed her by singing about her.
The concerto comes to an end and Penelope is admiring the performance. Shortly afterwards, she is seen walking back to her home. While being in a rather bad mood, Penelope is once again contemplating the sense of dating Garfield. This time Penelope decides to split with her current boyfriend. She comes back to Garfield, who is still focused on playing the guitar. Penelope walks away without saying a word. Garfield regains his senses and therefore, a pursuit around the neighborhood takes place. Penelope leads Garfield through balconies, roofs, fence and an alley to a dead end, arguing with Garfield about their relationship is over. Garfield gets stuck inside the garbage container Penelope crawled under, where he asks what does his rival have that Garfield lacks. Penelope offers to give the list, then she flees. Garfield's heart is broken. Shortly afterwards, Mister Rock and Roll is performing once again at the Kit Kat Club with Penelope in the audience. This time, the feline musician is singing about the "rocking wedding" he expects to have with Penelope. The latter is visibly charmed by the performance.
At the same time, Garfield is walking down the street with apparent signs of depression. He is planning initially to forget about Penelope, but it turns out this is impossible. After spending some time on the pavement, Garfield finally realizes the error of his approach to Penelope and is thinking about making amends with her. He stumbles around a store for musicians, where Elvis Presley's costume is shown on display. Garfield has an idea for how to restore his relationship with Penelope. Back at the Kit Kat Club, Penelope and Mister Rock and Roll are having milkshakes at the table, while the bandsmen are resting. Without an announcement, Garfield dressed as Elvis Presley literally storms the stage and gives his own performance at the Kit Kat Club. The audience, including Penelope, is pleased with the performance, even Mister Rock and Roll is enjoying it. This breaks Penelope's charm with Mister Rock and Roll, so she leaps directly onto the stage.
Garfield and Penelope dance and sing together, as the audience appears in Elvis outfits. Penelope admits that she loves Garfield and hugs him on the stage. Garfield withdraws behind the curtain, as Penelope is following him by jumping and the episode ends.
