The Caped Avenger Rides Again! ( Le retour du Vengeur à la cape) is the ninthUS/tenthEU episode from the third season of The Garfield Show.
Synopsis[]
A valuable copy of Ultra-Powerful Guy has just been stolen. A new super-villain needs to be defeated. This is a mission for Garfield as Caped Avenger and Odie as Slurp, his faithful sidestick!
Plot[]
Jon Arbuckle and his pets drive down to a comic book store where Jon has been asked to sign autographs. Odie notices a bag next to Garfield, who explains that it contains his "Caped Avenger" suit, in case of a world crisis or an autograph session. Jon starts to brag about all the people coming to the store, only to discover that no one is there.
Inside the shop, Jon repeatedly falls asleep while Rupert, the owner, laments the lack of customers despite weeks of advertising. Rupert also reveals the shop has a rare comic book on display, "Ultra Powerful Guy #1," worth one million dollars, but even this hasn't drawn a crowd. Garfield suggests dressing as the "Caped Avenger" to bring excitement to Rupert's shop. Despite Jon's efforts to cheer Rupert up, things take a turn when the rare comic is stolen, the glass display is broken, and the security guard is found unconscious.
The police arrive, and Rupert worries about how he'll pay for the stolen comic. The security guard describes the thief as a masked supervillain with superpowers. Determined to solve the mystery, Garfield dons his "Caped Avenger" suit and enlists Odie as his sidekick, Slurp. They imagine a comic book-style adventure, encountering a supervillain who steals the Caped Avenger's money and throws him through a wall. Garfield's dream sequence ends with a realization linked to a comic book plot.
Garfield finds the relevant comic and shows it to the detective, revealing that the broken glass outside indicates the crime was committed from inside. They deduce that the security guard is the thief. Garfield and Odie chase the guard around the city, eventually trapping him in a dumpster. Rupert gets his comic back, but still worries about customer turnout until people start arriving to meet the "Caped Avenger," with Garfield dressed in his superhero costume, much to Rupert's delight.
