Garfield Originals is a French digitally-animated television series based on the Garfield franchise. The series was created by Jim Davis and Philippe Vidal. It premiered in France on 6 December 2019 on France 3 and Okoo. In France, it is currently available to watch on France.tv.[1] It premiered on Radio-Canada on May 11, 2021. Episodes of the series are also available on the official YouTube channel for The Garfield Show[2] and on the Nickelodeon page for Garfield in the United States.[3]
Structure[]
There are 120 thirty second shorts, with a single segment comprised of five shorts. There is no dialogue, with the shorts solely focusing on the character's movements and expressions.

"Garfield is a lazy, self-centred and greedy fatty tabby who just loves to torment everyone around him! Eating and sleeping are his two favourite activities, but he also enjoys pestering his human, Jon, and his dog Odie – whenever he's not chasing after spiders, his personal pet hates.
Garfield is back with a new look and brand new adventures that will delight both old and new fans!
We won't be spared anything - especially not the most ferocious aspects of his personality - for better or for worse, but definitely a good laugh!"[4]
Production[]
Garfield Originals was first showcased on Dargaud Media and Mediatoon Distribution's websites, and later officially announced on Garfield.com.[5][6][7]
In an interview on June 15, 2018, Davis stated that Garfield Originals is the sixth season of The Garfield Show, although none of the websites advertising have provided evidence of such.[8]
Garfield Originals was produced by Madlab Animations, originally created by Ankama Animations and Ellipsanime Productions.[9][10][11] The show's music is done by Olivier Rabat.[12]
Gérard Surugue and Véronique Soufflet reprise their roles as Garfield and Arlene, respectively. Both previously appeared in The Garfield Show.
Garfield Originals was acquired by Viacom, as part of the company's purchase of the franchise.[13]
Synopsis[]
This series sees Garfield return to his roots of the famous Sunday strips, yet with a modern 2D design! He’s still as irritating, still as lazy, and still as funny as ever ! Garfield takes us on hilarious new adventures, where the gags take place without saying a word, and end in tons of laughs!
Broadcast[]
The show premiered in France on 6 December 2019, with half of the episodes made available. The other half were released on 17 June 2020. During 2021, The Official YouTube channel for The Garfield Show began uploading episodes. On October 19, 2021, Nickelodeon began uploading episodes of the show on the Garfield page of their website, formerly known as Garfield.com.
