Silverwood

Silverwood is a theme park in Athol, Idaho. Garfield and Odie have been the official mascots of the park from 2001 until 2021. Garfield's Summer Camp is one of the attractions of Silverwood.

History[]

Silverwood began as a project by former owner Gary Norton. Norton was the owner of the software company "ISC" and plane enthusiast. Upon selling the company, Norton used the funds to purchase the Henley Aerodrome in 1981, which would eventually become the foundation for the park. In 1986, an authentic steam train engine fondly named "Old Number 7" was put up for auction. Norton eventually outbid Disney and acquired the engine along with three miles of track. Using the Aerodrome as a central piece, Norton laid the track in a large loop. Though no model train is complete without some scenery. Norton constructed several buildings along a section of the track, what is now "Main Street" in the park. The park would first open to the public on June 20, 1988.
