Read Alert is an episode from the third season of Garfield and Friends.
Synopsis[]
Wade and Roy are terrified of Orson's imagination when it takes over their reality while he puts books away.
Plot[]
Orson sings about using his imagination while reading and dives into Moby Dick. Wade, curious about Orson's book, becomes terrified when he learns it's about a giant whale. Despite Orson's reassurances, Wade worries that Orson's vivid imagination will bring the story to life, dragging others along. The situation escalates when Orson’s vivid reading indeed seems to alter their reality.
As Orson reads, they find themselves on a ship with the looming presence of Moby Dick. Wade, panicking, tries to escape but ends up inside the whale. He eventually escapes through the blowhole, back to the farm, only to flee again when Orson picks up Prehistoric Animals of the World. A Tyrannosaurus Rex appears, unnoticed by Orson, escalating Wade's terror.
Meanwhile, Roy is playing his tuba to annoy others when Wade crashes into him, fleeing the dinosaur. Trying to warn Roy, Wade snaps a picture of the Rex behind him. Realizing the danger, Roy and Wade panic and run, eventually cornered by the T-Rex. Just as they brace for the worst, Orson unknowingly changes the story to Journey to the North Pole, and the T-Rex vanishes, offering brief relief.
Thinking they were safe, Roy skates on the ice and Wade pets a penguin—until Orson realizes polar bears, not penguins, are at the North Pole. The penguin turns into a polar bear, scaring Wade. Orson then picks up a book on the Great Lakes, turning the ice to water, and both fall in. Orson decides to put his books away, but not before Roy suggests a safer pastime: a coloring book. The farm turns black and white. Roy and Wade, now safe, happily color each other with crayons.
