Random House is an American book publisher and the largest general-interest paperback publisher in the world, founded in 1927 by Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer. It is part of Penguin Random House, which has been owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann since 1998. Among its subsidiaries is Ballantine Books, which Random House acquired in 1973.
Random House has sometimes been credited for publishing Garfield books. It has also developed and published the computer games Garfield, Eat Your Words and Garfield Double Dares.
