Preston (voiced by Richard E. Grant) is a red macaw in Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.

Physical appearance[]

A green wing macaw, Preston has the standard appearance of such a bird. Despite his fussy personality, they have quite a playful physical demeanour, bobbing happily in several scenes. When conversing with Winston about the role of Garfield in the castle, they appear quite puffed up. On several occasions, they get knocked away, leaving a burst of colourful feathers.

Personality[]

In contrast to most of the animals, Preston is the most willing to take charge of the barnyard animals after Prince has got missing. When Garfield arrives he's the most appalled at how Garfield runs the castle and wants to be rid of him during the first chance he's got. His pompous attitude causes him to be hated by both Garfield and Prince.

Role[]

Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties[]

After Prince XII went missing because of Lord Dargis, Preston attempted to rule by writing a series of laws for the barn animals to follow but is quickly rebuffed by them as they believe Prince will return. After Garfield who's initially thought to be Prince arrives, he is the most vocal at how appalled he is with Garfield. In one instance when the animals were preparing lasagna in the kitchen, he ordered them to leave only for Garfield to turn on the vent causing him to crash into the grate in the chimney.

Eventually, Prince manages to return and Preston immediately welcomes him. When Prince decides to run to escape Lord Dargis, Garfield intervenes with a better plan. Preston is annoyed that Garfield didn't leave but he's quickly reprimanded by Garfield (Prince in the junior novelization) finally getting him to stay quiet. After Dargis is defeated, Preston quickly tries to get on Garfield and Prince's good side, but the two cats simply throw a pillow at him as payback for his attitude earlier.

During the pool party at the end, Preston admittedly refuses to participate in the celebration, but quickly changes his mind when he sees nuts on the snack table.
