Otto is a Scottish Highland bull and the overarching protagonist from The Garfield Movie.

Physical appearance[]

Otto is a large, muscular Scottish Highland bull with a rugged, imposing frame. His shaggy, unkempt fur is a deep shade of purple, with bits of vegetation and debris clinging to the coarse strands. His most distinctive feature is his broken right horn, which he uses as a makeshift cane, a testament to the hardships he has endured. A large metal nose ring adorns his face, adding to his gruff, weathered appearance.

Personality[]

Otto, a rugged and introspective bull, appears to be a solitary figure, content to gaze longingly at the dairy farm from a distance. Beneath his gruff exterior, however, lies a deep emotional pain and an unwavering devotion to Ethel, the love of his life. Despite having given up on rescuing her due to the farm's formidable security, Otto's loyalty remains unshaken. He finds solace in watching Ethel from afar, his eyes fixed on the farm with a mix of sadness and longing. As he waits for Ethel to emerge from her barn, he stands up to catch a glimpse of her, only to then retreat into the shaded area of the forest, seeking solitude.

Otto's tough demeanor conceals a sensitive soul, which is briefly unveiled when he lashes out at Garfield for mocking him with the dairy farm song. Even though Otto had requested Garfield to sing that song, the painful reminder of his failed attempts to reunite with Ethel causes him to punch Garfield into a tree. This outburst showcases Otto's vulnerability and the deep emotional scars he carries.

However, when the situation demands leadership, Otto's strategic thinking and guidance come to the forefront. He takes charge of the heist, directing Garfield, Vic, and Ottie with a firm but slightly exasperated hand. His patience wears thin when his plans are disrupted, revealing a hint of frustration beneath his calm exterior.

Ultimately, when reunited with Ethel, Otto's happiness is palpable, and his love for her is rekindled.
