Nolan and Roland are the former canine henchmen of Jinx and the secondary antagonists of The Garfield Movie.
Physical appearances[]
Nolan, a slender whippet, has a striking appearance with a grey coat featuring dark grey spots, giving him a sleek, speckled look that accentuates his hairless appearance.
Roland, a massive and burly Shar Pei, boasts a robust build, covered in a remarkable brown coat with short, smooth fur that's heavily wrinkled and thick, resembling a rugged, inflatable suit that can withstand high-impact landings, making him a formidable and imposing canine.
Personality[]
Both Noland and Roland were henchmens and they both have different personalities, Nolan is a super crazy, hyperactive (though he says he is working on controlling it) and silly whippet who has eye problems as his eyes sometimes cross, while Roland has trouble seeing due to his skin folds covering his eyes. Both of them were allies since they met in the pound. Nolan has an ESTP (Extroverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving) personality, while Roland is a calm and seemingly bored Shar Pei dog. He assumes a British accent for Jinx's sake, but when she goes too far with her insults and mockery, he drops it and proudly speaks with his real New York accent.
In the film[]
Nolan and Roland kidnapped Garfield and Odie and took them to the Old Abandoned Mall. There, their boss, Jinx, talks about her past with Garfield's father, Vic, who left her behind during a milk heist at Lactose Farms before she was caught and imprisoned. Vic tells her that he tried to chase after the truck taking her away and that he failed because of the high speed of the truck. But Jinx was still not satisfied. She agrees to forgive him if he, Garfield, and Odie break into the farm to steal a large quantity of milk as repayment for her imprisonment. They reluctantly agree after being threatened by Nolan and Roland, boarding a train to the farm while the pair follow. The two spy on Garfield and the others through the course of the film, then head back to the abandoned mall to tell Jinx about the situation. Unwilling to let go of her grudge against Vic, Jinx calls the farm's animal control officer, Marge Malone, to inform her about the heist. Vic leaves Garfield and Odie behind, stealing the milk truck. Garfield later realizes his father left him behind to keep him and Odie safe and decides to go save him.
Seeing how much the pair care about each other, Nolan and Roland turn on Jinx by the near end of the film. They later begin working as guard dogs for Marge. At some point, they visit Jon's house carrying party gifts and dance to the music.
