Nathan Harrell East (born December 8, 1955) is an American jazz, R&B, and rock bass player and vocalist. A frequent session musician, he has made contributions to artists such as Anita Baker, Babyface, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Elton John, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Philip Bailey, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, Daft Punk, Sting, Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Kenny Loggins, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Toni Braxton, Justin Timberlake, Lionel Richie, Madonna, Julio Iglesias, Joe Satriani, George Benson, Sergio Mendes, Mary J. Blige, Michael Bublé, Barry White and David Benoit.

East is credited on soundtracks to films such as Hairspray, Crossroads, Tarzan, Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife, Phenomenon, Lethal Weapon, Escape From L.A., Thelma & Louise and Footloose.

East is a founding member of the contemporary jazz group Fourplay. His brother is Marcel East.
