Mind Over Matter is an episode from the fourth season of Garfield and Friends.

Synopsis[]

Jon takes Garfield and Odie to see Swami Pastrami and they run into a woman who swipes Jon's wallet and thus feeds Jon's info to the Swami. The Swami later returns Jon his wallet and also gives Jon a medallion that can supposedly read minds.

Plot[]

Garfield, Jon, and Odie are going to see the mind reading Swami Pastrami to see if mind reading is possible. On the way, Jon bumps into a lady who secretly grabs his wallet. She reveals to be in cahoots with the swami as she took the wallet to help him with his act. On stage, the swami begins to act as if he is reading the minds of the audience, with his assistant reading off Jon's ID to help him. Jon is amazed with all the knowledge that he knows, unaware of the true nature of the act.

After the show, they go to get lunch, with Jon realizing that he forgot his wallet. The swami returns it to him and offers him a jewel that could allow him to read minds. Jon buys it and attempts to read minds. He tries it on a diner chef who wants money for the food Garfield ate. Then he tries it on a passing woman. Neither of these attempts work. Garfield and Odie try to find out what is going on.

They find out the operation that allows the swami to read the minds so easily. Garfield and Odie plot to sabotage it and ruin his show. Odie snatches his assistant's sandwich to distract her and Garfield sets the radio to play on different stations to ruin the show and make the swami do all sorts of ridiculous things and make a fool out of himself. Pastrami gives the money back to Garfield and his show is now a bust. Jon is trying to read the mind of an organ grinder's monkey to no avail, and Garfield and Odie head out to spend his money on pizza. At the pizzaria, Odie wonders if Jon knows where they are, to which Garfield tells him that Jon, as the mind reader, should know.
