- Maurice resembles one of the members of The Claws, an tough alley cat gang who terrorized Garfield's family for years in Garfield on the Town. The Claws member is also large and blue-furred with a pink nose and an eye patch.
- It is unclear if he is a member of a gang, possibly Jinx's.
