Various Seasons[]

Cowboys[]

The Old West dwellers in Garfield and Friends are both humans and cats. The human ones are seen in the Wild-West-themed-episodes:

their feline counterparts appear in The Life and Times of the Lasagna Kid and The Guy of Her Dreams episodes.

Physical Appearance[]

Regardless of their species, the Cowboys appear dressed in typical Old Western fashion, composed of: shirts, jackets, pants with chaps, rodeo boots with stirrups, bandanas tied around their necks, and wide-brimmed hats. Stetsons, Plainsmen, twenty-gallooners, and Somberos are the most commonly seen makes of cowboy hats. Human cowboys appear in full attire, while most of feline cowboys are noticeably less lavisly equipped. Many of the latter carry little more than hats and rodeo boots.

Role[]

The Cowboys primarily serve as background characters for the stories they appear in.


National Guard[]

The United States Armed Forces personnel appears in Nighty Nightmare and Next Door Nuisance episodes.

Physical Appearance[]

The American Army personnel in Garfield and Friends is portrayed in typical way for the era as the US Army in post-Vietnam-War attire - men of various ethnic origins dressed in fatigues resembling OD 507 uniforms with M1 steel helmets and wooden-stock rifles. The senior commissioned officer seen in Nighty Nightmare episode appears to be dressed in the A-Class US Army uniform with some fashion errors depicted. The shoulder boards on his jacket would indicate him being of the Major General rank.

Role[]

In the first episode, the soldiers are nurturing Garfield as a part of his nightmare, while in the latter, they serve as background characters.

The law enforcers appear in those episodes, where criminal activity is involved. Garfield had at least two encounters as a suspect - in The Feline Felon and Cinderella Cat episodes, while Jon got into trouble with one non-commissioned Police officer in Garfield's Garbage Can and Tin Pan Alley Revue.

Physical Appearance[]

The Police Officers in Garfield and Friends are predominantly Caucasian men dressed in 1980s pattern US Federal Police Forces blue service uniforms with visor caps. A single traffic police non-commissioned officer in Astrocat episode is seen wearing the summer variant of the Police uniform with motorcycle helmet. Their non-commissioned officers seem bulkier built than privates, as can be seen in Garfield's Garbage Can and Tin Pan Alley Revue and Astrocat episodes.

A single female Police Officer appears in Next Door Nuisance episode. That woman is apparently of Hispanic origin, judging by her appearance.

Role[]

The Police officers serve as it can be expected from law enforcing public officials - they make interventions when the need occurs.

Townsfolk[]

The most commonly seen minor characters in Garfield and Friends episodes are citizens from Garfield's hometown. Both human and feline ones can be seen throughout the series.

The Cartoon Mouse is a cartoon character appearing on TV along with the Cartoon Cat.

Physical Appearance[]

A typical specimen of the domestic mouse - with dark brown fur and lighter areas on jaws and belly. This one has a noticeably longer jaws than most of mice from the cartoon.

Role[]

This mouse is chased by the Cartoon cat on TV, when Floyd was explaining to Garfield, that cats chase and eat mice.

The Cartoon Cat[]

The Cartoon Cat is a cartoon character appearing on TV, along with the Cartoon Mouse.

Physical Appearance[]

A long-hair domestic cat with red fur and tan areas on jaws, feet, and tail top. He looks similar to Mr. Jinx from "Pixie and Dixie" Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Role[]

This cat chases the mouse on TV and fails to catch it.

Cabin Fever[]

"Small Market" cashier (voiced by Gregg Berger) is a shop attendant running a business in the area near the cabin.

Physical Appearance[]

An average-sized man with a slighly overweight body shape, balding brown hair, thick mustache, and large round glasses. He is dressed in a blue shirt with matching bowtie, denim trousers with suspenders, and a pair of moccassins. This man resembles Wheezer from the comic strips.

Role[]

The cashier was preparing groceries for Jon in the episode. The latter forgot to pay him for shopping.

The Ranger[]

"The Ranger (voiced by Gregg Berger) is a guardian protecting the closed road sector.

Physical Appearance[]

A tall and fit man dressed in ranger uniform composed of tan jacket, matching trousers, Smoky Bear hat, shirt with a black tie, and jackboots.

Role[]

The ranger denied Jon access by the car to the cabin, where he left Odie and Garfield in.


Luigi's Drive Thru Lasagna Palace" employee[]

"The Luigi's Drive Thru Lasagna Palace" employee (voiced by Thom Huge) is a restaurant worker.

Physical Appearance[]

An average sized wiry man with swarthy complexion, long nose, dark hair and mustache dressed in chef's outfit.

Role[]

This man denied Garfield access to the restaurant, claiming that it is shut down at sharp eight.

Season 2[]

Robodie[]

Sid[]

Sid (Robodie) Title

"Sid" (voiced by Gregg Berger) is the owner of Sid's "All you can eat" restaurant.

Physical Appearance[]

Sid is shown to be a tall man with black hair and a mutton chop/moustache combo. His attire includes a blue suit with a pink undershirt, a yellow tie and brown shoes.

Role[]

Sid made his first appearance when Garfield arrived to eat lunch there, However Sid rushed into the restaurant and locked the door, remembering how the last time Garfield came, he ate everything and only left the napkin holders (with six ice cubes and a fig that Garfield mentioned) as he cried and begged Garfield to leave but Garfield didn't listen as he once again ate all the food and left (even calling out that his buffet is false adverting as he didn't have all he could eat).

Later after Garfield, Jon and Odie decide to go eat out, Sid stopped Jon and told him that Garfield can't come in due to restocking his food and Jon made a deal that only he and Odie can come but Garfield must stay outside, which Sid agrees and to his shock, see numerous Odies and asked Jon how many dogs he owns and Jon revealed to only have one as the others are robots.

Sakamoto-san (voiced by Gregg Berger) is the founder and sensei of Sakamoto's School of Martial Arts.

Physical Appearance[]

Sakamoto is shown to be a short elderly Japanese man with light grey hair that is thinning and a moustache. His attires include a white karate gi with a black belt.

Role[]

Sakamoto is first seen upon greeting Jon and Garfield where after Joh explain why he came, Sakamoto figured out he want to take karate in order to prove to His girlfriend that he wasn't a whimp after being robbed by a thug on their date. after having his students face again Jon (and easily defeated him), Sakamoto decide to teach Jon the "stuffed vulture" position, which resulted in him in a painful position.

Luigi (voiced by Gregg Berger) is a street lasagna vendor.

Physical Appearance[]

An average-height man with tanned complexion, large nose, thick black mustache, and rare hair. He is dressed in stripped chef outfit with a pink bowtie.

Role[]

Luigi runs his business in the downtown. He apparently had encounters with Garfield before, since he protects his stand from him fiercely. When Herbert uses his magic to steal lasagna, Luigi instantly knows that Garfield is behind the plot.

Ice Cream Vendor[]

The Ice Cream Vendor (voiced by Gregg Berger) is another street food business owner appearing in the episode.

Physical Appearance[]

A slightly obese Caucasian man with brown hair. His outfit is composed of green jacket with yellow details, matching baseball cap, blue shirt, and blue sneakers with white parts.

Role[]

This man was giving ice-cream to kids in the park. Garfield tricked him to hand over his entire stash to him.

Garfield's imaginary Godmother[]

Garfield's imaginary Godmother is a character from Garfield's fantasies derived after finding the Cinderella book.

Physical Appearance[]

A tall humanoid she-cat with white fur and long blonde hair combed below her shoulders. She is dressed in a three-tone blue long dress supplemented by golden necklace with a sapphire gem, a crown, and a magic wand she uses to generate additional lasagna trays. Her blue high-heeled shoes are normally hidden beneath her dress. This character wears deep blue eyeshadow and outlined pink lipstick. Unlike most of the characters from the cartoon, her ears are placed under ninety-degree angle beneath the crown and differ considerably in shape.

Garfield's imaginary Godmother bears visible similarty to Mona and four female cat dancers from The Garfield Rap episode, which would suggest she might had been a base for their designs. Especially Mona shares the overall body shape, fur, hairdo, and lipstick colors with this character.

Role[]

This character serves as projection of Garfield's imagination about wishes he would ask his fairy godmother for. When her presence is not needed, Garfield simply pushes her away from his mind.

Bank Owner[]

The Bank Owner is a businessman. who had money from his bank stolen by Herbert.

Physical Appearance[]

A middle-aged overweight man with tanned complexion and rare hair. He is seen wearing blue tuxedo with white shirt, matching tie and flower in the jacket, and glasses. He does not move from his desk in the episode. This character does not speak.

Role[]

Herbert's magic cast on Garfield's distorted wish caused the Bank Owner to suffer financial losses in his wealth.

Role[]

This bank clerk was the first one to witness the money disappearing, therefore he warned his employer about the loss.

Abigail[]

Abigail the fairy godmother (voiced by Sharman DiVono) is Herbert's wife from the episode.

Physical Appearance[]

A large and plump elderly long-hair female cat with blonde fur and black hair combed into a bob. She wears a black dress with grey details, golden jewelry, and pink lipstick without outlines.

Role[]

Garfield made Herbert summon Abigail, so Garfield could get rid of his godfather.

Jennifer's mother[]

Jennifer's mother (voiced by Sharman DiVono) is one of the few named town dwellers appearing in the episode.

Physical Appearance[]

A fit-shaped adult Caucasian woman of average height with brown hair combed in late 1980s fashion. She appears dressed in yellow T-shirt with brown leggings and blue sneakers with white parts.In addition, she wears magenta lipstick without outlines.

Role[]

This woman accepted from Garfield the Cinderella book her daughter left in the park. Garfield has been rewarded with a tray of lasagna.

Dessert in the Desert[]

The Gas Station Cashier (voiced by Gregg Berger)is the first character Jon encountered after leaving his car in the middle of the desert.

Physical Appearance[]

A middle-aged Caucasian man with large nose dressed in casual fashion: a purplish polo shirt, tan pants, brown boots, and red-and-tan cap.

Role[]

When Jon reached the gas station, he asked this man for help.

Homer's Tow Service attendant[]

The Homer's Tow Service attendant (voiced by Gregg Berger) is a mechanic, who helped Jon repairing his car and finding his pets in the desert.

Physical Appearance[]

An average-sized elderly man with a cucumber-shaped nose. He wears jeans dungarees, yellow shirt, two-color cap in similar fashion to the cashier, brown shoes, and round glasses. He sports messy gray mustache and messy hairdo under the cap.

Role[]

The Attendant helped Jon in finding Garfield and Odie in the desert and fixed his car for a price. It turned out that he is a mirage.

Female Cats[]

The three Female Cats appear at the end of the episode.

Physical Appearance[]

A trio of semi-humanoid female cats dressed for the beach standing near a huge lasagna. The only speaking one (voiced by Sharman DiVono) is apparently Lola, just with blue eyeshadow, white sclerae and blue bikini. Her assistants are light brown female Angora cat with green eyeshadow and greenish polka-dot bikini and a female yellow shorthair cat in black beach outfit. They all wear red lipstick without outlines.

Role[]

Lola and her assistants have turned out to be the only Garfield's sight in the desert, which was not a mirage.

Season 5[]

Each of the inventors (Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Alva Edison, and Benjamin Franklin, respectively) is showed to have his own Cat. Two of those felines are voiced by Lorenzo Music.

Physical Appearance[]

The Inventors' Cats have body shapes and facial details identical to Garfield, they only differ in fur and flesh colors:

  • Bell's cat has overall yellow-orange fur color and a dark beige nose;
  • Edison's cat is seen with overall gray fur and the same nose as Bell's cat'
  • Franklin's cat has dark orange fur and nose color close to black.
Role[]

All the felines are said to have inspired their creators to develop inventions - a telephone to order pizza, a light bulb to avoid watching television in the dark, and a potbelly stove for cooking.

Architects[]

Four Architects apart from Jonah are seen in the episode. None of them speaks in the episode.

Physical Appearance[]

Each of those specialists is an adult man dressed in a toga and a pair of sandals. Only one of them, the short middle-aged man whom Jonah attempted to convince to his ideas, is wearing a laurel around his temples. The remaining three Architects are elderly men, seemingly hand-picked from all around the Roman Empire.

Role[]

The first Architect seen in the episode refused Jonah's ideas to add hot-dog stalls and an entertainer dressed in chicken outfit, with an aid of a laborer. The remaining three members of this profession were responsible for designing new facilities in Ancient Rome.

The episode reflects the fact, that Ancient Rome relied on slave workforce, be it for manual labor or servants. Two types of this class appear on screen.

Physical Appearance[]

Most of the slaves seen in the episode are muscular men, dressed only in kilts and sandals tied below knees. The construction worker is wearing a headband in addition to his outfit. The oarsmen responsible for moving the gallery have their legs manacled to the benches.

The palace servant, who brought Voracious his meal, is a slender-built Caucasian woman with blonde hair knotted on top. She wears a pink toga, red lipstick without outlines, blue hoop earrings, and a matching band for her head knot.

All the slaves serve as background characters in the episode.

"The Centurions"[]

Members of the Ancient Roman Army appear throughout the episode, inaccurately named Centurions. One of them is voiced by Neil Ross.

Physical Appearance[]

All of the legionnaires in the episode are depicted as muscularly built men of tanned complexion. They all wear the lorica segmentata splint mail suits of armor worn on outlined red tunics, supplemented by the Gaul-Franco pattern type of plumed helmets.

Role[]

The centurion voiced by Neil Ross came to Jonah to retrieve the aqueduct plans for the emperor. Another legionnaire is seen as a guard inside a watchtower, responsible for setting an alarm in case of spotting intruders at the palace court. The remaining four legionnaires are emperor's personal bodyguard, protecting him inside the palace.


Jonah's prison inmate[]

Jonah was incarcerated into one cell with another convict.

Physical Appearance[]

This elderly man has apparently spent considerable amount of time in prison. He wears tattered olive robes, long unkept hair, and cobwebs around him. Incarceration rendered him bald and caused to lose teeth.

Role[]

Jonah's prison inmate tells him, that told them the same, when he was incancerated. This would indicate he was also drawing cartoons instead of actual working.

Advisor[]

This member of the Ancient Rome bureaucrat corps (voiced by Gregg Berger) serves as an Advisor for Emperor Voracious The Great.

Physical Appearance[]

A meek-looking man with brown hair, dressed in pink toga, wooden sandals, a laurel around his temples, and large round glasses, similar in fashion to Angel Puss. A hawk-like nose is his distinguishing mark.

Role[]

The Advisor was responsibile for aiding Voracious in governing Ancient Rome in the episode. One of his duties was keeping track of records about citizens, especially chefs and Marco Polo.

The Perils of Penelope[]

Delivery Worker #1[]

The first Delivery Worker (voiced by Gregg Berger) is supervising a shipment to Mexico being delivered.

Physical Appearance[]

An average-built Caucasian man with unkempt brown hair and an oblong nose, dressed in tan dungarees, light green shirt, dark leather boots, and a construction helmet. He is wearing glasses.

Role[]

This man was scolding his companion, who has apparently made a snack break without consulting his supervisor.

Delivery Worker #2[]

The second Delivery Worker (voiced by Thom Huge) is handling a shipment to Mexico being delivered.

Physical Appearance[]

A visibly overweight man of swarthy complexion and dark hair. He appears dressed in jeans, red shirt, white T-shirt worn beneath, blue sneakers wih light blue soles, leather gloves, and a construction helmet.

Role[]

This worker was spotted by his workmate on eating pizza at work. He shared the slice with Garfield. Later on, he completed loading the shipments to Mexico.

Store Clerk[]

The Store Clerk is a cashier in the mini-market Garfield hid himself in before Penelope Pussycat.

Physical Appearance[]

An average-sized Caucasian man with rare black hair and mustache. He is seen wearing typical shop clerk attire: light green apron worn over a yellow shirt with deep green bowtie and a field cap in the same tone as his apron.

Role[]

A non-speaking background character, whom Garfield gave pack of stale crisps while heading to save Penelope from Brick.

The Garfield Rap (episode)[]

Tina and Her Tabbies[]

Tina is the one with white fur and black hairdo.

Tina is the one with white fur and black hairdo.

Tina and Her Tabbies is a feline music band composed of at least four singing members. Their song Ain't Gonna Be Your Scratching Post was on MeowTV's schedule before Garfield's Rap song aired.

Physical Appearance[]

Tina is a white female shorthair cat with pink nose, three-lid eyeliner, black hairdo and stripes around her tail. Her head shape resembles Arlene save for the aforesaid differences. The Tabbies are three identical-looking blonde-furred female cats with brown forelocks and double cheek hair oriented upwards. Just like Tina, they have black stripes around their tails. Their facial features have apparently been based on Penelope Pussycat without beauty spot and temple whiskers. All the band members wear magenta lipstick with outlines and matching two-piece swimsuits.

During the performance, Tina is seen being carried on a surfing board by two-identical looking brown tomcats with considerable muscular poses, though it is not determined whether they are actual members of the band or just hired for the videoclip.

Role[]

Tina's band was performing their song on MeowTV. Garfield is seen enjoying their musical videoclip.

Kenny Katnip[]

Kenny Katnip (voiced by Gregg Berger) is a MeowTV presenter.

Physical Appearance[]

Kenny is a tall brown male cat with ruffled cheeks, tan hairdo, black tufts inside ears, and a simple tail with tip colored like his forelock. He wears a light green jacket with pink shirt, and a black tie. His notable feature is a golden ring he wears in the middle of his right ear.

Role[]

Katnip is leading a MeoTW program about new songs. He showed Tina's clip and Garfield's clip afterwards.

The Cat Dancers appear in The Garfield Rap song. Two sections can be divided throughout the episode - the singing and dancing one and the dancing-only one.

Physical Appearance[]

All those female cats are tall and fit-shaped, dressed in black shorts and top sets. Each of them, save for the African-descend female, has cheek hair combed down. At least three of them are seen wearing bracelets on wrists. The dancing and singing section is composed of one African-descend female, who wears long black hair combed in dreadlocks and her swarthy-complexed companion, who does not have actual hairdo. Both females are wearing crimson red lipstick.

The dancing-only section members are of significantly fairer complexion, even though they are seen through black-and-white filter. One of them does not have a lipstick.

Role[]

Those she-cats are providing dancing scenes for The Garfield Rap song.


Season 6[]

Jon The Barbarian[]

The stronghold's army is composed on Warriors who seem to be organized in loose warbands. One of those is led by Bork.

Physical Appearance[]

All of those combatants are white men of varied body shapes, ranging from fit to muscular. They all are quite uniformly dressed, in Hyborian fashion - fur kilts with webbing belts, poorly cured leather boots, studded leather collars, leather armbands, and leather helmets without horns. Each warrior carriers a weapon - Bork's marauders are seen wielding short swords and two-bladed bardiches, while those at the training camp carry spears, round shields, short bows, and short swords.

The warriors are background characters in the episode.

Stray Cats[]

Those homeless Cats appeared near the inn, where Mariah was serving food.

Physical Appearance[]

Apart from the Garfield-like cat, four additional felines can be observed in the episode. One of them looks like a white Persian cat, the second one is a brown tabby with white belly, protruding lower fang, and ears bent under unusual angle. The third cat is overall yellow, except for darker eyelids. The last of the strays seems to be a brown Persian cat with ears bend like a Scottish Fold cat.

Role[]

Those cats serve as background characters to illustrate Bork's selfishness - he was such a glutton that he refused to spare bits even to cats.

The Army Recruiter[]

Physical Appearance[]

An overweight man, who has not seen combat for a considerable amount of time. He is dressed in fur armor with a studded webbing belt, fur shoes with puttees, brass armbands, and a conical-shaped leather helmet.

Role[]

The Army Recruiter found Jon's will to jon the king's army amusing.

Spaniel Number 27[]

The dog passing past Jon.

The king's army also had enlisted dogs back in the year 11 and a half.

Physical Appearance[]

A brown Spaniel dog with white belly and neck area, a tail with a bushy tip, studded leather collar, and a similar leather helmet like the human warriors wear.

Role[]

This canine was apparently an army dog. However, it is unknown what exact purposes did it serve.

The Squad Leader[]

This veteran fighter is responsible for training new warriors for the local army.

Physical Appearance[]

An elderly man, who still remains fit and strong despite his age. He wears fur leggings to somewhat better prepared fur boots, a webbing belt with golden buckle, red cape, spiked pauldrons, white metal bracelets in lieu of armbands, a horned helmet similar to the one Bork wears, and a skull clasp on his cape. He sports gray beard and thick eyebrows. A sheated short sword is his combat gear.

Role[]

The Squad Leader was training Jon the Cartoonist along with the remaining warriors. He had doubts about Jon being fit for the role of the warrior and the doubts were proved during the combat training.

Feline Preachers[]

Two feline members of the Christian clergy appear in the aforesaid Season 6 episodes. The one from the modern times is voiced by Gregg Berger, while his Old West counterpart has no voice actor.

Physical Appearance[]

The preacher from The Third Penelope Episode is a grey tomcat with black nose and double down-facing cheek hair. He dresses in a cassock worn over a tuxedo, an outfit commonly worn by the priests from the United States Protestant churches.

The priest from The Life and Times of the Lasagna Kid looks like brown male Persian cat with lighter tone on cheeks. He is wearing only a deep blue jacket with light blue shirt and worn gray Plainsman hat.

Both holy tomcats carry a copy of the Holy Bible in the episodes they appear in.

Roles[]

The Third Penelope Episode feline priest was leading Penelope Pussycat's and Garfield's wedding ceremony in that episode. His Old West equivalent from The Life and Times of the Lasagna Kid is merely a background character placed to appear inside the town's church.

Alex leads Kat Kwiz in the same manner as Alex Trebek (after whom Alex is based) was leading Jeopardy! quiz show.
