[The episode starts with the camera opens and revolves around Earth on an unseen planet]

Narrator: The greatest threat to the existence of this planet came not from without, but from within. Not from outer space, but from deep within the Earth's core. There, for thousands of years, the sloth people have dwelled, dwelled in a kingdom ruled by their leader, King Glorm.

King Glorm: My people! The time has come for us to conquer the beings who live on the outside of our planet.

[Sloth people cheer]

King Glorm: This will be easy, for they are fat and lazy creatures, and we should make it even easier through the power of... Procrastination! [unsure about what procrastination means] Hmm.

Narrator: Procrastination is the act of putting things off until a later time. It's the finest way man has invented to get absolutely nothing accomplished

[Sloth people cheer and the scene changes to Garfield's home]

Narrator: Here we see a demonstration of world-class procrastination.

[Garfield is seen relaxing on the living room sofa]

Jon: Garfield, please take out the trash.

Garfield: I'll do it tomorrow.

Jon: Oh. And you were supposed to clean out the garage.

Garfield: I'll do it next week.

Jon: And I need you to take a package over to Aunt Ivy's house.

Garfield: I'll do it the century after next.

Narrator: Putting things off and putting them off and putting them off… That is procrastination at its finest.

[The camera pans down below the house where the moles are digging underground]

Mole: Hey!

[Then the camera continues to pan below to the planet of the sloth people]

King Glorm: Even now, all across the surface world, our transmission antennas are rising, sending out the procrastination rays to every corner of my planet. Rays that will increase to the maximum everyone's tendency to procrastinate.

[King Glorm sends out rays to everyone on the planet and causes them to procrastinate their current tasks]

Narrator: And so, the cosmic energy bombarded the Earth, instilling in every man, woman, and child a deep sense that everything can and should be done at another time.

[In town, a mother and child are watching the fire burning from inside the orange building. A fire truck arrives immediately with Fireman Bob carrying the water hose to put out the fire, but he is zapped by the ray causes him to deliberately delay his work and instead he reads a newspaper]

Man 1: Hey, you're a fireman, Bob. Don't you have a fire to put out?

Fireman Bob: Yeah, but I'll do it later.

[The rays continues zapping everyone on the planet. On the farm, Freddie Fox chasing Penny Henny are both zapped. At the dentist, the patient and his doctor are both zapped. The scenes changes to Mayor Grafton trying to deliver a press conference.]

Narrator: Soon, the state had come to a complete standstill, prompting the governor to call a press conference.

Mayor Grafton: With no one accomplishing anything, we have a major crisis. In order to get to the bottom of this, I'm appointing a special committee… [sees the seats are empty without journalists attending] one of these days. Don't much matter. Nobody showed up to hear me anyways. I think I'll just go home and do nothing… maybe do that later.

[The scene changes to the planet of the sloth people]

Narrator: With the surface world paralyzed, King Glorm began sending his sloth people to seize control of the exterior world.

King Glorm: Conquering the surface people will be simple. They won't even lift a finger to fight back.

1: Is there no one up there who will do anything now?

King Glorm: No one. Well, there is one possibility. [starts riding the rooster] The procrastination ray makes everyone into a total procrastinator. However, if there is someone who already was like that, it will transform them into a total non-procrastinator. [laughs] But how could there be anyone who is that lazy?

[The scene changes to Garfield's home, where Garfield is sleeping on the chair and is waken by Odie, who wants Garfield to throw to stick for him so he can fetch it]

Garfield: No, I am not going to...

[Garfield and Odie are zapped by the rays. Garfield who is already a procrastinator is turned into a non-procrastinator, while Odie is turned into a procrastinator]

Narrator: And even as the ray transformed the puppy into a procrastinator, it changed the cat into the exact opposite.

Garfield: Yes! I will throw the stick! And I'll throw it now! Now! Now! [throws the stick for Odie to fetch] Go get it, boy! Go fetch the stick.

[Odie has turned into a procrastinator, therefore he is lazy and tired to fetch the stick]

Garfield: What do you mean, you'll fetch it later? I can't worry about that. I have things to do now.

[Garfield has turned into a non-procrastinator, means he is motivated to do the chores requested by Jon. The chores were taking out the trash, cleaning the garage, and deliver Jon's package to Aunt Ivy's house]

Narrator: Garfield became the most ambitious creature on the face of the planet. He took out the trash. He cleaned up the garage. He even took Jon's package over to Aunt Ivy's house.

Garfield: Don't say anything. You're not really in this episode. [feeling excited he runs back to the house] I'm not due for dinner for three more hours, but I think I'll have it now. One of the advantages of not putting things off.

[Garfield stands in front of Jon expecting him to cook his dinner]

Narrator: But Garfield now seemed to be the only one who felt that way.

Jon: I was going to make a pot roast, but I'll do it… [yawns] later.

[Garfield starts to bounce on Jon's lap demanding him to cook his dinner]

Garfield: No! No! Now! Do it now!

Jon: Ooh! Besides, I can't go to the market. My paycheck hasn't arrived.

Garfield: Paycheck? I'll get it for you.

[Garfield dashes out of the house to get Jon's paycheck and sees Herman Post is sleeping on the bench in procrastination mode]

Narrator: The mailman wasn't delivering the mail.

Herman Post: [yawns] I'll get around to it sooner or later. Probably later.

Garfield: How am I gonna get anything to eat? I know. Vito.

[Garfield runs to Vito's pizzeria]

Narrator: Even Vito the pizza maker was… Well, you know where this is going.

Vito: Ah, my little pussycat. I shall make you not one, not two, but ten delicious pizzas.

Garfield: Yes! Yes! Go! Do that now.

[Vito wheels out a row of his suitcases in Garfield's frustration. This means Vito is in procrastination mode]

Vito: As soon as I return from my vacation in Italy.

[The scene changes to the planet of the sloth people only for a few seconds, where the sloth people are riding chickens to seize control of the planet. Garfield is running in town to see everyone is procrastination mode, including Jim Davis]

Garfield: Jon won't do anything. Odie won't do anything. The mailman won't do anything. Vito won't do anything. [stops running] What has caused this?

Narrator: The cat pondered the problem, unaware that its cause was but blocks away.

Garfield: What?

[In the park, giant machines come out of the ground which the machines are operated by King Glorm and his sloth people]

Narrator: How could he have imagined that King Glorm and the sloth people from the center of the Earth were at the park at that moment, flocking to the surface, massing to begin the total conquest of the world?

[Garfield sees the action from outside the park]

Garfield: Sloth people? Conquest of the world? Tell me more.

Narrator: They had used the procrastination ray to… Oh, I'll tell you some other time.

Garfield: No! Tell me now! Even the narrator won't do anything! He said they were at the park!

King Glorm: Before nightfall, the people of Earth will be our slaves.

Sloth person 2: What good are they?

King Glorm: What do you mean?

Sloth person 2: Earth people don't do anything. What good are slaves who don't do anything?

[The sloth people are arguing between each other]

King Glorm: Hmm. I hadn't thought of that. I know! Once they are our slaves, I can push this button to reverse the procrastination rays and make them useful.

Sloth people: Hail Glorm! Ruler of the world, inside and out!

King Glorm: So, let us enslave the surface dwellers, and then I shall push this button.

[Garfield sitting on the tree watching the sloth people from above, snatches the remote from King Glorm]

Garfield: Here, Smiley! I'll save you the trouble.

King Glorm: An Earth creature! Actually doing something! Seize him!

[King Glorm and his sloth people chases Garfield in town, who is carrying the remote he has snatched]

Garfield: Let's see. He said to press this button!

[Garfield press a button on the remote while he is running, this causes the reverse everyone in procrastination mode to their normal state. At home, Jon and Odie are reversed to their normal state]

Jon: Hey, I'm going to prepare dinner. [rushes to the kitchen to cook dinner and Odie holding a stick in his mouth is running around in circles] And while I'm cooking, I'll throw the stick so you can fetch it, Odie. [He is stirring the saucepan and throws the stick for Odie to fetch at the same time] I can do two things at once. I can do ten things at once!

[Herman Post in his normal state, is inside the house holding Jon's mail with his paychecks inside]

Herman Post: Mr. Arbuckle! I brought your mail! Your paychecks in here!

Jon: Ah!

[In town, Garfield holding the remote is being chased by the sloth people. Meanwhile, the rays continued to zap people reversing them to their normal state]

Narrator: Everywhere he ran, the brave cat was pursued by sloth people.

Garfield: Hey, it must be working. My narrator's back!

Narrator: He ran as fast as he could, but soon he was trapped.

[Garfield is trapped in a circle of sloth people]

Garfield: Uh-oh. Like he said…

King Glorm: Give me the device, and then we will destroy you.

Garfield: Wonder what happens if I press this button that says "procrastination rays for our side."

[Garfield pressed the other button on the remote, this causes the rays to zap King Glorm and his sloth people turning them into procrastinators]

King Glorm: This creature will be eliminated. Ah, but we can do that later.

[King Glorm and his sloth people start heading back home]

Sloth person 3: There's no rush.

Garfield: Wow. Nice of them to label this thing like that for me.

[In the park, the sloth people start driving their machines underground to their planet]

King Glorm: We shall conquer the surface world, but we'll do it a few thousand years from now.

Sloth person 3: I'll see you around.

Narrator: And so the sloth people and their leader returned to their city at the center of the Earth, not to be seen again for a long, long time.

[In the park, Garfield throws away the remote in the hole]

Garfield: Oh, hi, Odie. Looks like I saved the world again. [Odie barks] And I guess this episode is just about over. All we need is the closing joke. [Odie whines] The closing joke. We always like to end these with me saying something funny, so the writer's gonna send over a line for me to do. It should be here any minute. Yep, any minute now. [hums while waiting for the writer's line] Probably on its way… Boy, I hope he didn't put it off. [Odie whines] I don't know about putting things off.

[The episode ends with a plane flying past the coast, carrying a man inside the boat on top of the plane]
