James David Hughart (born July 28, 1936) is an American bass player. He has performed with numerous jazz and pop artists, often with David Axelrod, Natalie Cole, Joe Pass, Tom Waits and Ella Fitzgerald. He also made appearances on recordings by The Monkees, Joni Mitchell, Vicki Lawrence, Linda Ronstadt, Diane Schuur, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Rivers, Wayne Marsh, João Gilberto, Aaron Neville, Lou Rawls and Helen Reddy.
