Irving "Irv" Burnside is Jon Arbuckle's neighbor, who frequently gets annoyed by Garfield stealing his food and would take it out on Jon. During his last major appearance, he realizes that Garfield's antics help keep his weight down. He lives with his wife Alice.
Physical appearance[]
Irving Burnside is an overweight man. He has short black hair, two huge eyes with white sclera and black pupils, a big nose and a huge chin. His attire usually consists of a yellow Hawaiian shirt, with pink flowers on it, green pants and a pair of blue shoes.
Personality[]
Irving Burnside is very rude and violent; he threatened to beat up Jon several times because of Garfield stealing his food, and he also tried to beat up Garfield once. Irv hates Garfield and considered a world full of Garfields to be a nightmare.

- Irv Burnside is loosely based on Ralph Kramden from The Honeymooners, especially the tone of voice. Also, both Irv and Ralph have a wife named Alice.
