(This episode picks up where Part 1 left off, except some time has passed and it is now night time. Jon is at his house, wondering where his pets have gone.)

Jon: Garfield! Odie! Where are you? (He opens the door connecting the hall and garage.) Garfield? Odie? (He closes it.) Guys? Where could they be? It's not like Garfield to be gone this close to dinnertime! (He opens the basement door and peers down the stairs. No sign of either of his pets. Just then, the doorbell rings.) Oh no! Company's here! (He races to answer the door.) Garfield! Odie! *Jon opens the door* Huh? Chuckle (He scratches his head nervously.) Mom! Dad! (His parents stand in front of him.)

Mrs. Arbuckle: Merry Christmas, Jon! (She hands her son a present.)

Mr. Arbuckle: Son. (He walks past. Doc Boy is the next to arrive.)

Jon: Doc Boy!

Doc Boy: Don't call me Doc Boy. (He sets his present on top of the other one Jon is holding.)

Jon: Riiiight...Doc Boy! Doc Boy! (He points at him. Liz enters the house next.) *Laughs* Liz! (She kisses Jon on the cheek.)

Liz: *smooch* Happy Holidays, Jon! (She sets her present on the stack and joins the others.)

Jon: Boy...you are looking absolutely... (Before he can say anything else, he notices Liz's parents walking through the doorway.) Mrs. Wilson!

Betty Wilson: Hello, Jon. (She sets her gift on the stack. Mr. Wilson follows by.)

Jon: And Mr. Wilson. Uh, how are you today, sir? (He extends his hand to shake.)

Robert Wilson: Just peachy. Which way to the egg nog? (Jon leans back to get out of his way. Jon's and Liz's families sit in the living room while Jon brings some teacups of hot cider from the kitchen for his guests. Liz walks next to him.)

Mrs. Arbuckle: What a BEAUTIFUL tree, Jon!

Jon: Thanks. (He sets the plate on the end table.) Um...Mom, Dad, Doc Boy, (He looks at each of them as he says their names.) I'd like you to meet Liz's parents, Robert and Betty.

Doc Boy: *standing and waving* Hi.

Mr. Abuckle: *standing* Well, how do you do?

Robert Wilson: I'm fine, thank you.

Mrs. Arbuckle: It's so nice to meet you. (Betty stands up.)

Betty Wilson: Liz has told us so much about ya! (Everyone sits, except for Jon and Liz. The awkwardness is real.)

Jon: So... (He taps his fingers nervously.) uh...everyone have some hot cider and let's admire the tree for a while, OK?

Doc Boy: I'm kinda hungry. (He pats his stomach.)

Robert Wilson: Yeah, I'm with that one. When do we eat?

Betty Wilson: Scoff! Robert! (She waves her hand at him.)

Jon: Oh! (He chuckles nervously.) Soon! But first, let's get to know one another. Oh, Mrs. Wilson, did you know Doc Boy slept with his blankey until he was 14? (Doc Boy glares at him.)

Doc Boy: *pointing* Don't call me Doc Boy! (Doc is embarrassed.) And it was 13.

(Elsewhere in the city, the animals–including Garfield and Odie–have been busy putting the puppy's plan to action. The junk pile is decorated, albeit without lights. Garfield and Arlene gaze upon it.)

Harry: *Laughs* (He slides down the edge of the trash heap.)

Kittens: *Giggle* (They run and play innocently.)

Garfield: What do you think, Arlene? (They both walk towards it.)

Arlene: Interesting, (Odie runs past them.) but it needs something. (They both look at it and Garfield figures it out.)

Garfield: Huh. A star! (He points at the peak.) We need a star at the top!

Odie: Bark! (Garfield and Arlene turn to face Odie, who is rolling a heavy disco ball up to them.) Ta-daaaaaa! (He steps to the side and presents it to his friends.)

Garfield: Eureka!

Arlene: Ohhhh! (She clasps her paws together.)

Garfield: *continuing* Nice going, Odie! (He gives the pooch a thumbs-up.) Let's get this thing to the top of the heap. (Together, they roll it up the pile.)

Garfield and Odie: *Strain* (Upon reaching the top, they are assisted by Rags and Spring to make sure it is balanced.)

Garfield: *Grunts* (With that done, he bounces down the tree.) Hoo! (He lands safely on  the ground.) Pants I think everything's ready to go now!

Arlene: Are you sure this is going to work? (The Flabby Tabby looks up at their progress. He turns back to Arlene and the others.)

Garfield: Absolutely! Not... (He hangs his head.)

Odie: Whimpers (Despite his doubts, the Tubby Tabby is willing to give it a try.)

Garfield: Are you with me, people?

Animals: Yeah!

(Meanwhile, Jon, Liz, and their families are singing “Jingle Bells”. Jon strums a guitar and sits on the arm of the easy chair, next to his mother.)

Jon: Very nice everyone! OK, uh, let's sing another song!

Liz: Ohhhh!

Doc Boy: Do we HAVE to? We've been singing for a solid hour!

Mrs. Arbuckle: Jon, (She rests her hand on Jon's leg.) can I give you a hand with dinner? (Jon sets his hand on his mother's.)

Jon: No, everything's ready, Mom. I was just stalling until Garfield and Odie to show up. (Liz covers her mouth with her hand, surprised and worried.)

Liz: Gasp! Oh no! It's not like Garfield to miss a meal.

Robert Wilson: I wondered why it was so peaceful around here.

Mrs. Arbuckle: I'm sure they're fine!

Doc Boy: Those rascals (He points vaguely behind him with his thumb.) are probably up to something!

Jon: *to his mother* I'm sure you're right. OK, (He gets up and sets the guitar down and points into the kitchen with his thumb) let's go in to dinner. (Everyone follows Jon into the kitchen. Outside, Garfield, Odie, Rags, and Harry look inside through the living room window. Garfield glances sneakily at his canine companion. They see Jon's arrangement of food on the end table, the tree with its twinkling lights, and a table filled with silverware and dishes.)

(Back in the kitchen, the humans are gathered around the table, looking at the turkey, mashed potatoes, and lasagna.)

Liz: What a lovely dinner, Jon. I'm so proud of you!

Doc Boy: *holding his stomach* If it tastes half (He gives thumbs-up.) as good as it looks, we're in for a treat! (A clattering is heard in the living room.)

Robert Wilson: What was that? (Liz and Jon look at each other.)

Liz: Huh?

Jon: What was what?

Robert Wilson: That noise. It came from the living room. (He points in the direction of the living room.)

Jon: I didn't hear any... (Loud creaking and crashing causes him to pause.) What the?! (He dashes into the living room. Liz and the others follow by.) *Whimpers* I don't believe it! (What he sees is...nothing. The tree, the side dishes, the actual dishes, all have vanished, save for one goblet and a small blue ornament. With everyone distracted, Garfield, Odie, Rags, and Harry look through the kitchen window at the turkey and other food on the table.) What's going on here?! (The animals are not subtle in the slightest. Another loud crash comes from the kitchen.) Oh no! (Liz and Jon turn around and Jon runs back into the kitchen.) *Pants* *Shrieks* (The food is gone without a trace. Jon puts his hands on the table.) This isn't happening! (Everyone looks at each other, stunned. The animals, in a bold move, have pilfered everything, loaded it into a truck, and are driving it down the street, with Garfield taking the wheel. He swerves down the road and makes a hard left at the corner while Jon is left mourning his losses.) *Moans* (Liz puts her hand on his shoulder to comfort him. The animals, meanwhile, are driving crazily, swerving wildly and catching some air as they reach the top of the hill.)

Garfield, Harry, and Rags: AHHHHHH! (They land with a thud.)

Garfield: Whoa! (They continue on their reckless getaway. Garfield has to stand on tiptoe to see over the dashboard. Harry peeks up.)

Harry: Whoa! Whoa! (Since Garfield is too short to reach the petals, Odie is doing that for him. He clutches the wheel as they swerve onto the street, and then on the sidewalk, and then down another street. A couple of dogs cross the crosswalk, but Garfield manages to avoid them by veering back onto the sidewalk.)

Dogs: Bark! Bark! Bark! (They race for safety. By now, the animals are just outside the junkyard.)

Garfield: Look out! (They crash through the closed doors and park safely. No one was hurt during that wild ride. The Flabby Tabby gets out of the car and runs toward their makeshift tree.) *Pants* (He stands next to it and Spring.)

Spring: Purr!

Garfield: *pointing at the star* Go forward, guys! (Odie appears behind him and Arlene stands next to him.) The headlights have to shine higher! (Harry, now driving, forces the car up the garage pile, angling it further and further up until the lights shine on the disco ball star, illuminating it.)

Garfield and Black-and-White Cat: *being awestruck* Wow!

(Back at home, Jon, Liz, and their families are gathered outside, their Christmas over after essentially seeing it stolen from them. Liz puts her hand on Jon's shoulder to comfort him.)

Jon: Well, folks, I guess our Christmas is over a little early. I'm sor- (He looks up and sees something in the distance.) huh? (He sees the animals' star shining brightly in the city scape.)

All: Whoa!

(Back at the junkyard...)

Garfield: *turning and pointing at Odie* Ready, Odie?

Odie: Uh-huh! (He runs off.) Bark!

Garfield: Light the lights! (Odie flips a switch on a power generator. Their tree's lights start shimmering in the night.)

(Jon, Liz, and their families watch from a distance.)

Jon, Liz, and their families: Ooooooooooh!

(At the junkyard, Odie and Harry race back under the shelter that is the railway station.)

Garfield: Hurry, guys! There isn't much time! (Odie sets the mashed potatoes on the table and Harry does the same to another dish.) Everybody ready? (Nick flies on Rags' head. They all give the OK.)

Animals: Ready!

Harry: Hey! (He gives a thumbs-up and the Tubby Tabby flips another switch. Jon's Christmas tree lights up, and so does everything else in the shelter, revealing a beautifully set table adorned with goblets, a candelabra, plates of lasagna, a bowl of mashed potatoes, and a turkey on the end.)

Odie: Wow! (Arlene walks over to an old gramophone and turns it on to play festive music.) Huh? (They all wait anxiously for people to arrive.)

Garfield: *Laughs* (He joins his canine companion in the doorway.)

Odie: *Mutters* (No one seems to be coming, much to Garfield's disappointment. Arlene walks up behind him.)

Garfield: Why aren't they here? (His face is filled with sadness.)

Arlene: It was a nice idea, Garfield. (She puts her paw on Garfield's back, and he looks at her. For the record, Odie had the Christmas tree idea. Garfield had the execution.) It was sweet of you to try. (Garfield retreats back into the station, not seeing a car pull up.)

Animals: *Moan* (Right when things seem hopeless, Jon, Liz, and their families walk up.)

Jon: *waving* Hello? (The animals perk up.)

Kittens: Hey! It works! (Rags barks.) Meow!

Garfield: Hey! It worked! See I told ya! (He holds his paw out and Nick flies into it. The humans look around at the display, and the animals who made it.)

Kittens: Yay! Purr...

Harry: *Laughs* (He waves.)

Jon: *bending down* Garfield! (Odie joins him.) Odie! You rascals! (At first, he seems slightly miffed.) What are you doing here? (The animals blink at Jon, who looks around.) This is truly a Christmas miracle!

Liz: It must be for a reason.

Garfield: As a matter of fact, it is! (He looks behind him at the seasonally-named kittens, gathered around Rags.)

Kittens: Meow!

Jon: Who are your friends, Garfield? (Nick lands on Rags' head. Betty notices him.)

Betty Wilson: *Gasps* Petey!

Nick: What?

Robert Wilson: *unenthusiastically* Oh, boy. (His wife shuffles over to the canary.)

Betty Wilson: I had a canary named Petey! (She clasps her hands together.) You remind me so much of him! I'm gonna take you home and name you Petey II! (He points and digs around in her pocket.)

Nick: *pointing* Look, lady, I don't know what your problem is, (She pulls out some food for the bird.) but, uh, (He points at the macadamias.) is that food?

Betty Wilson: Aw, have some macadamia nuts.

Nick: For macadamia nuts, you can call me Cynthia!

Betty Wilson: *turning to Garfield* And Garfield, (She wags her finger at the cat.) here I was so angry with ya for letting Petey out the window, and now you've given me Petey II! (Her voice changes from angry to grateful.)

Nick: Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Could I have some more nuts? (Garfield glares at Nick, now renamed Petey II. Liz is next to join them.)

Liz: *to the kittens* And, just who are you?

Kittens: Meow. (They look at her with big, adorable eyes. Jon walks up to join her.)

Jon: Don't you have a home?

Kittens: Purr... (They and Rags all hang their heads. The old dog shakes his head slowly.)

Mrs. Arbuckle: Well, they need a home! Dad?

Mr. Arbuckle: A farm could always use more mousers! (He smiles.) We can take the kittens!

Doc Boy: I love kittens.

Mrs. Arbuckle: You're coming home with us!

Summer: *stepping forward and wagging her finger* I don't think so, lady. We're not going ANYWHERE without Rags! We're a family, a team, a set that can't be broken up!

Rags: Time out! (He gently nudges Summer to the side with his nose.) Come here, ladies. Listen to me. (Autumn joins her sisters.) I promised your mother that I'd find a home for you, and that promise is gonna be KEPT! Tonight!

Summer: But you're family!

Spring: Yeah! This (She gestures around her.) is our home! *Autumn nods*

Rags: THIS is a junkyard! I am an old dog. I'm not gonna be around for ya a whole lot longer. On the farm you'll have friends and REAL family! And one day, you'll have kittens of your OWN to care for! I can't offer you that here.

Spring: *stepping forward with outstretched arms* Oh, but we love you, Rags! (She hugs Rags' nose.) We're going to miss you. (Autumn joins in the hug fest.)

Summer: Yeah, we're going to miss you! I love you! (She joins her sisters in one last farewell hug.)

Kittens: Awww!

Rags: I love you too. Now make your mother proud! (As bittersweet as it is, the kittens obey and walk over to the Arbuckle parents. Rags watches, also sad to see them go.)

Mrs. Arbuckle: Oh, aren't you the sweeeeetest things! (She clasps her hands together. Rags looks sadly at the ground. Garfield looks moved by the others, or perhaps a little sad that Rags can't join the kittens. Nevertheless, Robert wonders something.)

Robert Wilson: Betty, what was the name of that big, dumb dog we had?

Betty Wilson: Are you talking about Junior?

Robert Wilson: Yeah, Junior! Whatever happened to him?

Betty Wilson: He died 10 years ago, Robert.

Robert Wilson: That's right. Isn't his bed still in the corner of the garage?

Betty Wilson: *nodding* Mm-hmm. Right where you insisted on leaving it.

Robert Wilson: Seems like a shame to let that bed collect dust. *He grabs his chin, thinking* Maybe we could use another big, dumb dog.

Betty Wilson: Wha! That's a lovely idea, Robert!

Robert Wilson: *to Rags* Come here, boy! (The old dog glances up at the Wilson couple. What Mr. Wilson said sinks in and Rags instantly perks up.)

Rags: Bark, bark! (He leaps onto a crate and flips into Robert's open arms.)

Robert Wilson: *Laughs* When we get home, (Rags slurps Robert's face.) the first thing I'm giving you is a bath.

All: *Laugh* (The other animals appear from behind a stack of crates. The humans can't help but notice them.)

Mrs. Arbuckle: Oh my, look at all those poor, homeless animals! (They are all unaware, but several cars pull up behind them.)

Liz: Jon, we have to do something.

Jon: We can't POSSIBLY take care of ALL those animals, Liz. (Vito appears behind them.)

Vito: I'LL take one!

Jon: Vito! What are you doing here?

Vito: What am I doing here? (Behind him come more people.) What's the whole TOWN doing here? We all came to see the big tree! (Odie's plan and Garfield's execution worked perfectly. He notices a dog in front of him.) Hey, you want a job. Doggy?

Dog: *Whimpers*

Vito: *bending down* You come to Vito's pizzeria with me, yeah. (He points at the dog.) I'll put you to work guarding pizzas from a certain cat I know. (He gestures to Garfield.)

Garfield: Gasp! Hey, I resemble that remark! (He points at Vito. The dog stands upright and pants excitedly.)

Vito: All the pepperonis you can eat! What do you say, dog?

Dog: Bark bark! (Vito turns around and yells to the crowd.)

Vito: Hey everyone! Take a pet home with you! C'mon! We have a pet parade! (The rest of the homeless animals race out to greet their potential owners. Rags gives Robert another slurp.)

Robert Wilson: *Laughs* (Arlene watches with clasped paws next to Garfield.)

Arlene: Garfield, sometimes you amaze me. (The Flabby Tabby chuckles nervously.) Oh, you ARE the spirit of Christmas. (Garfield grins sheepishly as Arlene gives him a kiss on the cheek.) *smooch*

Garfield: *Chuckles* (Jon and Liz are watching the lovebirds.) *Laughs* Arlene. (He turns to the audience.) You know, the spirit of Christmas is hungry! (He puts a paw on his growling stomach.)

Jon: The food's getting cold, everyone! C'mon, let's eat! (Amongst the overlapping chatter of the citizens, Garfield's voice pierces through the crowd.)

Garfield: Now THAT'S something I like to hear! (Everyone joins them under the railway station as a light snow begins to fall. The lights on the tree, and in the station, twinkle, the disco ball shines brightly, and the camera slowly pans to the tree and then up to the sky. The episode ends, the credits roll, and a Christmas music version of the opening theme plays.)

Merry Christmas to all! THE END
