Half-Baked Alaska is an episode from the seventh season of Garfield and Friends.
Synopsis[]
Jon's boss offers him a promotion that would involve relocating to Alaska. Garfield imagines what life would be like there.
Plot[]
Jon receives a call from his boss, Mr. McDougal, who reminds him about dinner plans that evening. Busy preparing lasagna and chocolate cake for dinner, Jon is also shocked to hear about a new job offer in Alaska with a promising salary. Garfield, overhearing this, devours the dinner and tells Odie he does not want to move to Alaska. Caught red-handed, Garfield quickly escapes outside.
In the backyard, Garfield imagines life in a frigid Alaskan igloo where even pizza freezes instantly. He encounters a polar bear raiding the kitchen and runs out into the cold. Waking from his daydream, Garfield decides to stop Jon from taking the job and seeks help from Ichabod Cricket, who has since retired from being a conscience and now makes cricket sounds in movies. Ichabod agrees to help by giving Jon bad advice during dinner.
When Mr. McDougal arrives, Garfield sneaks Ichabod into the house, and Ichabod begins giving Jon absurd advice. Jon, under Ichabod’s influence, makes a series of blunders, including putting salad on his head, claiming the lasagna has old gym shorts, and pouring it on McDougal’s lap. The final straw comes when Jon prepares to shove cake in McDougal’s face, causing McDougal to flee and rescind the job offer.
Afterwards, Jon reflects on the bizarre evening, realizing his conscience led him astray. Hungry, Jon decides to order pizza, but Ichabod convinces him to give him the cash. Realizing he has been tricked, Jon, Garfield, and Odie chase after Ichabod to retrieve their money.

Trivia[]
- This is the last episode to feature the title card music used since the third season.
- In this episode, Jon can hear what Ichabod Cricket is saying when he whispers in his ear. This is one of the few Garfield cartoons where humans are able to understand an animal character. There are also episodes where humans can hear Garfield, such as "Garfield's Garbage Can and Tin Pan Alley Revue", and episodes where humans can hear what the Buddy Bears are saying, such as "Binky Gets Cancelled Again!"
- This episode marks the second and last appearance of Ichabod, following "A Matter of Conscience". Garfield references the events of the earlier episode as he recalls Ichabod.
