Overview

This is a page that goes in depth on the Quickies from the seventh season of Garfield and Friends.

Season 7 has a total of 16 Garfield quickies, tied with Seasons 4-6 for the least of any season. This season had handful of duplicate Quickies, two separate Quickies based off of the same strip and that tell mostly the same story. One of them was duplicated from earlier that season. Most of them are based off of Sunday strips from the Garfield comic strip. While they stay true to the original comics and tell the same story, there are often a few minor changes, like added/altered/subtracted dialogue or an added/removed scene.

Trivia[]

Characters[]

Garfield[]

Garfield appeared in 15 out of 16 Quickies this season, the most of any character. He is often the main character, or at least co-staring with his friends. Garfield had some strange things happen to him, like drinking sugar after forgetting his coffee, watching a bird lift a block of cement, and dealing with a defective recliner. Instead of saying all the Quickies he's in, below is the ONLY Quickie he is NOT in. He is in all the others except for...

  • 146. Seeking Bone 2

Jon[]

Jon appeared in nine Quickies this season, the second most but just barely. His memorable moments include playing in mud with his pets, getting upturned by Odie when the latter found his bone, and attempting to spray Garfield with a can of soda.

  • 142. Rodent Rebellion (Speaking cameo)
  • 143. In the Middle of the Back Routine
  • 146. Seeking Bone 2
  • 149. Fall from a Tree 2
  • 152. Spray Soda Pop
  • 153. Play in Mud!
  • 154. Hang in the Ceiling
  • 155. In the Middle of the Back Routine 2
  • 156. Spray Soda Pop 2

Odie[]

Odie appeared in eight Quickies this season, exactly half of the Quickies this season. His best moments including getting a Quickie all to himself, waking Jon with his cold nose, and landing on Garfield after the cat kicked him.

  • 141. Run into the Wall Contest
  • 143. In the Middle of the Back Routine
  • 146. Seeking Bone 2
  • 147. Wonderful Dream?
  • 150. SnowOdie Man
  • 151. Rat Hole
  • 153. Play in Mud!
  • 155. In the Middle of the Back Routine 2

The Big Three[]

Garfield, Jon, and Odie appeared together in only three Quickies, and two of them were exact duplicates of each other. Garfield called Odie over to wake Jon up and all three of them enjoyed some fun in the mud.

  • 143. In the Middle of the Back Routine
  • 153. Play in Mud!
  • 155. In the Middle of the Back Routine 2

Other Animals/Characters[]

Other animals/side characters have appeared four different times this season, often at Garfield's expense. A bird crushed Garfield under cement, and another bird tickled Garfield until he let go of a branch. One of Jon's dates showed up to see him playing in mud.

  • 142. Rodent Rebellion (Side characters: Mice, Squirrels, and Armadillos)
  • 144. Cement (Side character: Super-strong bird)
  • 149. Fall from a Tree 2 (Side characters: Baby birds and Tickling bird)
  • 153. Play in Mud! (Side character: Jon's date)

Repurposed Comics[]

A handful of years are represented during the final season. 1990 was used the most, with nine Quickies (seven strips) being taken from that year. 1993 was used the least, with only one Quickie from one of that year's strips. 1987, '89, and '92 all tied for second with two apiece, and 1988 and '91 were skipped entirely.

  • Description: Garfield curls into a ball to take a nap when Odie trots up to him, hoping Garfield will throw the stick so he can fetch it. Garfield declines, but is willing to do a contest with the pup. Odie enthusiastically agrees and Garfield tells him that it's a running into the wall contest, and the first one to collide with the wall is victorious. • Quickie Name: Rodent Rebellion
  • Quickie Number: 142
  • Original Strip: 4/22/1990
  • Description: Garfield is trying to sleep on the floor when Jon interrupts him and tells him the mice are back. A mischief of mice (Dead serious. Google it) immediately runs past and over the lazy cat. Garfield shrugs it off with a typical, "big fat hairy deal" and Jon reprimands him for not doing his job, and then a scurry of squirrels runs over Garfield. The cat still ignores this, and Jon tells Garfield to do something when a roll of armadillos runs past, causing Jon to lose his mind, or as Garfield put it, "...pushed [Jon] over the edge." before going back to sleep.
  • Additions:
    • Jon has lines! He doesn't get lines in the strip, so every single one of those is new.
    • Garfield adds, "fat, hairy" to his "Big deal" line.

He points at Jon and Odie knows what to do. He lifts the blanket and sticks his cold, wet nose in Jon's back. It works instantly, and Jon leaps into the air. Garfield celebrates.

Garfield stalks it, but the bird starts flapping its wings and manages to lift the heavy concrete up into the air.
