This is a page that goes in depth on the Quickies from the sixth season of Garfield and Friends.
Season 6 has a total of 16 Garfield quickies, tied with Seasons 4, 5, and 7 for the least of any season. This season introduced the first of a handful of duplicate Quickies, two separate Quickies based off of the same strip and that tell mostly the same story. Most of them are based off of Sunday strips from the Garfield comic strip. While they stay true to the original comics and tell the same story, there are often a few minor changes, like added/altered/subtracted dialogue or an added/removed scene.
Trivia[]
Characters[]
Garfield[]
Garfield is the only character to appear in all the Quickies in this season, a total of 16. He is typically the main star of the Quickies, or co-stars at the very least. He makes a lot of discoveries this season. He discovers his feet, and his wiggly toes, he meets the Sand Person, and he demonstrates the usefulness of a dog whistle and a dog trumpet.
Jon[]
Jon appears in 10 Quickies this season, the second most behind Garfield. He is often a victim of Garfield's antics, like when Garfield stole his food, the cat ruined his quiet evening, and when Garfield woke him up while wearing a demon mask.

- 121. Gravity
- 122. Drip
- 125. Hair Dryer
- 132. Stop!
- 133. Sneeze

- 125. Hair Dryer
- 132. Stop!
Other Animals/Characters[]
Other additional characters, be it humans, animals or mystical creatures, have appeared in three different Quickies. The Sandman shows up, Garfield uses a dog whistle on a dog, and Garfield's mirror reflection watches him.

Garfield Quickies[]
Sand Person[]
- Quickie Name: Sand Person
- Quickie Number: 120
- Original Strip: 3/20/1988
- Description: Garfield is sitting in bed, bleary-eyed and unable to sleep. Suddenly, the Sand Person appears in front of him, and he tells Garfield that he helps people get to sleep with just a few sprinkles of his magical sand. Garfield, who desires to sleep, enthusiastically tells the Sand Person to, "Lay it on me!" The Sand Person waves his wand and vanishes. Garfield hears something and a shadow looms over him. He looks up and sees a pile of sand dumped upon him by a construction vehicle. Garfield notes while under the pile, "It DID get dark all of a sudden."
- Additions: Garfield's final line, "It DID get dark all of a sudden." is new, as well as him saying, "I can't sleep." twice and "Great!" when he urges the Sand Person to sprinkle him with sand. The Sand Person's last line is "OK, Charley!" instead of "Hit it, Charley!"
- Tweaks: The Sand Person is purple instead of green, and his assistant driving the vehicle looks like him instead of a person.
- Subtractions: Garfield never opens his mouth when he says, "Lay it on me!"
Gravity[]
- Quickie Name: Gravity
- Quickie Number: 121
- Original Strip: 1/11/1988
- Description: Garfield is walking on the table, feeling down because it's Monday and he hates Mondays. He looks for some way to cheer himself up, and then notices Odie standing at the end of the table. He figures that kicking him off the table will cheer him up, so he goes to do that. He gives himself a running start, pounces toward Odie, and gives him a kick, only for him to levitate in midair. Frustrated, Garfield concludes, "Even gravity has it in for me today!"
- Additions: Garfield has a few extra lines, "Boy do I hate Mondays." as he scratches his underarm, and after spotting Odie, he goes, "Great! I'll kick Odie off the table! That'll cheer me up." He also gets a running start compared to just delivering a swift kick.
- Tweaks: Odie is turned toward Garfield instead of the viewers.
Drip[]
- Quickie Name: Drip
- Quickie Number: 122
- Original Strip: 2/24/1988
- Description: Garfield is snoring loudly in his bed when he hears a dripping noise. He wonders what it is and gets out of bed to investigate. The first place he goes is the sink. He climbs onto the counter and fiddles with the handle, but he quickly realizes that that isn't it. After a moment of reflection, he figures it out. Odie is slobbering into a puddle. Garfield walks up to him and twists one of his ears like a faucet, stopping the dripping and leaving him only panting. Garfield then leaves, his job done.
- Additions: Every one of Garfield's lines is new. "What's that dripping noise?" "It's not the sink. Oh, I know what it is." and "There, much better." His bed scene and sink scene are also unique to the Quickie.
- Tweaks: Garfield walks up from behind Odie instead of in front, and he stands on tiptoe when he turns Odie off, turning his left ear instead of his right.
Quiet Evening 2[]
- Quickie Name: Quiet Evening 2
- Quickie Number: 123
- Original Strip: 1/24/1988
- Description: Jon goes to his chair with a bowl of popcorn in his lap, about to enjoy a quiet evening in front of the TV. At that moment, Garfield arrives, changes the channel a handful of times, devours the popcorn, sticks the bowl on Jon's head, and claws his pants before leaving. Jon realizes that he will not have quiet evenings.
- Additions: Garfield's grin at the end is new.
- Tweaks: The bowl is a slightly different color, and Garfield pours the popcorn entirely into his mouth rather than gobbling it up.
Assembly Dinner[]
- Quickie Name: Assembly Dinner
- Quickie Number: 124
- Original Strip: 7/28/1991
- Description: Garfield sleeps in his bed when Jon tells him it's dinnertime. Garfield smiles, not leaving his bed, when Jon tosses him each aspect of his dinner: his bowl, an unopened can of cat food, and a can opener. Garfield pauses and looks at the items in front of him, and realizes that there is "some assembly required" to make his meal. Nevertheless, he takes the can and the opener and starts opening it.
- Additions: Jon calls Garfield's name from afar, and Garfield's line starts with, "My dinner." Garfield sleeping is also exclusive to the Quickie, as well as him opening the can
- Tweaks: Jon tosses Garfield his bowl first, and then the can, and then the opener, a different order than the strip, and Jon actually threw him a can opener instead of a spoon.
Hair Dryer[]
- Quickie Name: Hair Dryer
- Quickie Number: 125
- Original Strip: 8/4/1991
- Description: A whirring sound is heard as Jon's hair gets blown to the viewer's right for a moment before it stops. His hair is then blown to the left before it stops, leaving it a lot more messy. It is blown up, and then sideways, and then in three different directions before it stops, making an even bigger mess. It is then revealed that Garfield and Odie were each using hair dryers to blow Jon's hair. Jon asks if they're done yet, and Garfield suggests that they try the hurricane setting. Odie agrees, they dial their dryers up, and they blow on Jon and each other's fur.
- Additions: Jon adds the word, "yet" to his line. Except for the pets blowing each other's fur, everything after this is new, like Garfield saying, "Let's try the hurricane setting!" to Odie, the pup nodding, and then they crank up the heat.
- Tweaks: The pets' hair dryers are different shapes and colors, and the cord is wrapped around Garfield's toes, unlike in the strip.
Diable[]
- Quickie Name: Diable
- Quickie Number: 126
- Original Strip: 9/8/1991
- Description: Jon is snoring loudly in bed when Garfield appears to wake him up. The cat puts on a red demonic mask, leans forward, and taps Jon on the head a couple of times. Jon wakes up, but it takes him a moment to see Garfield's mask. When he does, Jon whimpers, screams, leaps into the air and makes a hole in the ceiling. Garfield takes off his mask and explains what he just did, "That's what's known as 'burying the needle on the wake up meter.'" He grins.
- Additions: Garfield, when tapping Jon's head, says, "Excuse me, sir." Jon's snoring and whimpering is new to the Quickie as well. Garfield's grins at the end, something else he doesn't do in the strip.
- Tweaks: Garfield's mask is red instead of green and he leans further over Jon when he wakes him up.
Cereal, Milk, Sugar[]
- Quickie Name: Cereal, Milk, Sugar
- Quickie Number: 127
- Original Strip: 9/23/1991
- Description: Garfield lies on his back on the kitchen counter, grinning. Jon walks up to him and Garfield opens his mouth wide. Jon dumps cereal into the cat's open mouth then leaves for a moment. He returns with a carton of milk and pours it into Garfield's mouth with the cereal. Jon leaves again and returns with a bowl of sugar and asks him, "One sugar or two?" Garfield complains how he has to do everything around here and then demands two scoops. Jon dumps two spoons full of sugar on top and leaves.
- Additions: Garfield saying, "Two!" is new to the Quickie, as well as his grinning and smiling at the beginning. Jon adding the sugar afterwards is also new.
- Tweaks: The cereal, milk, and sugar are from different containers than the strip, and Jon fills Garfield's mouth a lot more compared to the strip.
Feet[]
- Quickie Name: Feet
- Quickie Number: 128
- Original Strip: 7/7/1991
- Description: Garfield looks at and rubs his tummy, complaining at the most recent diet that Jon has put him on, when he notices something odd. He looks down and stands on his toes a couple of times, getting increasingly nervous, before snapping and screaming. He runs into Jon's arms and kicks his feet. Jon asks him what's wrong, and if there is anything wrong with his feet. Garfield realizes that those are his feet, calms down, points at them and starts wiggling his toes. He asks Jon, "I'll bet those wiggly things on the ends are toes, right?" Jon just looks annoyed.
- Additions: Garfield adds, "I hate it." when talking about his diet.
- Tweaks: When he initially sees his feet, Garfield goes, "Hey, what's going on? What's...?" instead of, "Hey! What the...?!" Jon's first line is tweaked to, "Garfield, what's wrong?" At the end, Garfield wiggles two toes at a time instead of all six at once.
- Subtractions: Garfield loses his "Feet?...Feet?..." line.
Interview[]
- Quickie Name: Interview
- Quickie Number: 129
- Original Strip: 12/1/1991
- Description: Jon nervously grabs at his throat as he makes a speech at a podium in front of the United Nations and the millions of watchers on TV. He announces to the world that he cannot get a date to save his life and that he forgot to wear pants. He steps to the side, revealing his red and yellow polka-dot underwear to the world. Jon then screams in his bed, startling Garfield and revealing that it was just a dream. He tells his cat about it, and Garfield guesses that it was the one about rubber pizzas.
- Additions: Jon steps out from behind the podium, revealing he forgot pants.
- Tweaks: Jon says, "...millions of you watching on live television" instead of just, "...millions watching by television". Jon also says, "My name is..." instead of "I am...", and "Also, I would like to mention that I forgot to wear pants." instead of, "Also I forgot to wear pants." The microphones are also different, Garfield adds, "again." to the end of his line. Jon's pajamas are orange instead of red.
Phone[]
- Quickie Name: Phone
- Quickie Number: 130
- Original Strip: 11/3/1991
- Description: The phone is ringing. Garfield and Jon step toward it at the same time, but Garfield picks it up and answers by meowing (despite not moving his mouth when he meows. He had done it before in earlier seasons, but not here for some reason). After meowing a handful of times, he hands the phone to Jon, claiming that it was for him, and leaves. Jon, bewildered, himself meows into the receiver and shrugs.
- Additions: Garfield meows more times than he did in the strip, and he scratches his head, and waves his paw, two more things not shown.
- Tweaks: Garfield pauses before asking his first meow, and the phone is a different color.
- Subtractions: The table is missing its tablecloth.
Dog Whistle[]
- Quickie Name: Dog Whistle
- Quickie Number: 131
- Original Strip: 11/17/1991
- Description: Garfield walks up to a sleeping dog and introduces it to the viewers. He then pulls out a dog whistle, explains what it is to the viewers, and tells them, "Observe." He takes a deep breath and blows a powerful blow into it. No noise is heard, but the dog hears it, and leaps into the air, upsetting its dog house, and landing flat on the ground. Garfield explains that the whistle can only be heard "by lower life forms, such as dogs." He then whips out a dog trumpet and smiles.
- Additions: Garfield inhales deeply, something not shown in the strip.
- Tweaks: Garfield's first line after blowing the whistle is, "It emits a sound that can be heard only by lower life forms, such as dogs." slightly altered from the strip. The dog's house and collar are also different colors, and Garfield smiles after whipping out the whistle.
Stop![]
- Quickie Name: Stop!
- Quickie Number: 132
- Original Strip: 10/27/1991
- Description: Garfield peeks over the edge of the table and then leaps upon it. He spots Odie nibbling on his food. Seeing the opportunity, he rubs his paws together greedily, takes a running stance, and, as Odie's eating, charges forward. He swipes Odie's bowl and then Jon's plate, who is also eating at the table. Garfield grins and says, "You can't stop what you don't see." but he's not watching where he's going and he runs face first into the wall, splattering food all over it.
- Additions: Most of Garfield's initial antics, from getting on the table to his running stance, are new to the strip. He also has an added line, "This wall for example..." after colliding with it.
- Tweaks: Odie's food bowl is a different color, as well as Jon's plate. While in the strip, Garfield is shown as a blur. In the Quickie, he is easily visible. Odie is also facing the opposite direction.
Sneeze[]
- Quickie Name: Sneeze
- Quickie Number: 133
- Original Strip: 10/6/1991
- Description: Garfield is sitting on the floor, sniffling and wiggling his nose. Odie trots up and sits behind his feline friend as he sniffles some more. Garfield starts breathing heavily, as if going to sneeze. Odie stands up and leans back as Garfield is about to sneeze but holds it in while he swipes Odie's nose off his face and switches his nose with Odie's. Odie looks at his new nose and sneezes so powerfully he leaps into the air and flops on the ground.
- Additions: Garfield inhales and sniffles more than he does in the strip. Odie's flop on the ground is also new.
- Tweaks: Odie trots up before Garfield is about to sneeze, rather than during. Garfield doesn't smile in the end like he does in the strip.
Take a Walk (While Sleeping...)[]
- Quickie Name: Take a Walk (While Sleeping...)
- Quickie Number: 134
- Original Strip: 9/29/1991
- Description: Garfield is sleeping on his back in bed when Jon arrives and tells him how beautiful the day is outside. He picks Garfield up to go for a walk, and Jon takes him outside, tossing and catching him is his arms. Jon climbs a tree and sets Garfield on a branch and then holds the cat as he sprints home. He tells Garfield how exciting the day was and then leaves. Garfield finally wakes up, telling about how he dreamed he was in King Kong's grasp.
- Additions: Garfield adds, "I just dreamed I was Fay Wray in the clutches of King Kong." the last half was not in the strip.
- Tweaks: Jon takes Garfield on a romp "in the yard like this!" as opposed to the "grass". He also uses the singular "tree" instead of "trees". When Jon takes Garfield out of bed, he appears fully inside it instead of half in, half out.
- Subtraction: Jon's "Off to shower" line is scrapped.
Two Self[]
- Quickie Name: Two Self
- Quickie Number: 135
- Original Strip: 6/21/1992
- Description: Garfield sleeps next to a mirror when his reflection in the mirror looks at him for a second. When Garfield wakes up, his reflection hides. The cat yawns, scratches his tummy, and looks at himself in the mirror as he walks past it. The reflection peeks back at Garfield, which causes the cat to pause. The reflection hides again before Garfield can notice. The cat questions which side of the mirror he is on, and wonders if the viewers have had similar days.
- Additions: Garfield also sleeps next to a paint can and brush, though they play no factor. He also returns to the mirror instead of just looking back at it. After saying his line, he walks away.
- Tweaks: Garfield pauses a bit longer than he does in the strip.
