The 2008 Garfield Minus Garfield book.
Garfield Minus Garfield is a webcomic based on the Garfield strip created by Dan Walsh. The comic is created by removing Garfield (and sometimes other characters such as Odie and Nermal) from existing strips. The result is a strip consisting solely of Jon Arbuckle talking to himself. Walsh began publishing these strips on his website, garfieldminusgarfield.net, on February 13, 2008. Jim Davis approved of the concept, and starting in November 2008, an official version of Garfield Minus Garfield was published on GoComics by Paws Incorporated. These comics continued the style of Walsh's strips, but featured the original Garfield strip underneath. This strip was published until 2020, when it was removed from GoComics. Walsh has continued to make his own Garfield Minus Garfield strips, but only occasionally releases new ones.
Book[]
In 2008, Ballantine Books released a full-color Garfield Minus Garfield book, with the original strips as well as the altered ones. The book contains Walsh's strips as well as a smaller section consisting of an attempt by Jim Davis to create his own Garfield Minus Garfield strips.
