After Garfield's story upset him, Odie sits outside, still crying. Garfield asks if he wants to hear the end of the story, since it has a happy ending, which Odie accepts. He continues the story as the animals talk over Elizabeth, and "The Handsome Cat". The Handsome Cat comes out while eating the spaghetti bolognese, which soon knocks him out. "The Beautiful Lady Cat" states that they must get him to a wizard, before the Dragon tells where one is.
Odie, having heard the sad part of Garfield’s story, is in the backyard, feeling sad about what he’s just heard. Garfield comes out and convinces him to hear the rest of it, assuring him that it will have a happy ending. The two return to the living room couch to continue the story.

The animals are distraught over the fate of Elizabeth. The same soon happens to Garfield after he samples the spaghetti. A lady cat (Arlene) notes that they’ll have to get a wizard. The dragon, aware of a 24-hour wizard, takes everyone to him (Professor Bonkers).

The wizard determines the cause of Garfield’s slumber to be from the spaghetti of doom. He tells Arlene that only she can wake up Garfield by kissing him, being one who loves him. Arlene kisses Garfield, causing him to wake. Furthermore, the animals find out that they can do the same with Elizabeth after finding Prince Jon. Unfortunately, they soon discover that Jon has been locked up in the tower. With that, they, along with other animals befriended by Elizabeth, head out to the castle to rescue Jon.

Meanwhile, the viceroy prepares his takeover as ruler a day early, figuring that nothing can stop him. Just then, one of the guards discovers the army of animals approaching the castle. The viceroy decides to just keep the gate down, thinking that’ll be enough to keep out the animals. However, the dragon manages to burn through the gate, leading to a battle between the animals (along with the twins) and the viceroy’s forces. Odie locates the royal food taster, using his slurp to wake him up. Prince Jon (whom Lamren tells that Elizabeth likes him) gets rescued by Garfield (who leaves Lamren behind).

The viceroy, his assistant, and the witch attempt to escape with the tax money. However, they get chased by the dragon and soon crash to the ground. Garfield directs them to the catapult to escape the dragon. They are thrown right into the tower with Lamren. Prince

Jon has reclaimed the castle from the antagonists.

Everyone heads back to Elizabeth’s house, where Prince Jon awakens her with a kiss. Elizabeth finally realizes that Jon is worthy. They get married, which sure enough brings the story to its happy ending.

Just after the story finishes up, Jon and Liz return, upset that Garfield ate their picnic. Garfield figures that it “must be time for lunch or dinner or some meal.” When asked what he thought of the story, Odie gives a positive response.
