Overview

Full of Beans (FRFlag Le haricot magique) is the 42ndUS/40thEU episode from the second season of The Garfield Show.

Synopsis[]

Jon receives a very odd package in the mail from his friend Pablo from Mexico. At first glance, the package appears to be alive. It's moving and jumping all over the place. But when he opens it, he discovers a bean. When the bean begins to bounce all over the house, he calls his friend who tells him that it's a Mexican jumping bean, which are fun as long as it's not swallowed.

Plot[]

The episode begins as Herman Post is driving his jolting mail truck to Jon's house, which Garfield sees from a window. Garfield then remarks that Herman is 'putting the cheap gas in his truck'. Afterwards, Herman then leaves his truck, whilst holding a shaking box, which then falls out of Herman's grip, as he tries to take the box back.

After grabbing a hold of the box, it then bounces Herman instead, causing him to bounce around the house's frontyard. As he struggles to grab a hold of the box, the box then falls out of his grip, bouncing towards the front door, which so happens to be opened by Jon. The box then bounces into the house, surprising Jon.

Jon then picks up the box, which he apparently saw was sent from his friend Pablo from Mexico, curious about it's content. Jon then brings the box to the dinner table, after which he opens, revealing a bean in an encased glass jar. He then hands the bean over to Odie, who then smells the bean. The bean then suddenly begins to bounce and apparently speak, eventually falling from Jon's hand. Jon then remarks that the bean is alive, which Garfield replies that 'it has a bad case of the hiccups'.

The bean then bounces around the living room, with Jon asking Garfield to catch the bean. Garfield refuses, and instead Odie goes after the bean, chasing it around the living room. Jon then goes upstairs to call Pablo, asking about the bean. Pablo then replies that it is a 'Mexican jumping bean', and then remarks that it is a 'lot of fun, as long as nobody stupid enough to swallow one'. Jon then turns back, and sees Odie swallowing the bean. Jon then asks if Odie is doing well, which Odie then replies to. Odie then begins to bounce around the home, as Jon tries to catch Odie. Eventually, Odie then breaks through the roof. Jon then manages to catch Odie, and gives the tail to Garfield, which loses control as both Garfield and Odie begin to bounce around the city.

Meanwhile, Dr. Whipple can be seen in an office, apparently working as a therapist, interviewing someone named Mr. Schnitzel. Schnitzel then says that he has been afraid of dogs since he was a little kid, and remarks that it has affected him to the point that he can't leave his home. Dr. Whipple then tries to convince Schnitzel that dogs are friendly creatures, and says that it is man's best friend. Schnitzel then sees Odie bouncing on the window, which he is frightened by. Dr. Whipple then sees through the window, seeing nothing instead. As the interview goes on, Schnitzel then sees Odie bouncing on the window again, as Dr. Whipple states that he is suffering from a 'basic canine delusion'. Schnitzel then runs out of the room whilst screaming. Dr. Whipple then hears Odie's bark outside the window, which he is also frightened out by.

The scene then cuts to Al patrolling the city whilst calling the chief, who remarks that he hasn't caught a dog since August, and that said dog was a stuffed animal. Dr. Whipple then can be seen running to the truck, asking Al to catch Odie, which he does afterwards. Dr. Whipple then is scared by a chihuahua, and runs away. Meanwhile, Jon can be seen driving amongst a screaming crowd, and sees Odie and Garfield bouncing on the streets. Jon then calls Pablo again, asking what to do if someone swallowed the bean, which Pablo then replies that it has to be 'bounced out' of the person. Jon then ends the call, whilst remarking that he 'was of no help whatsoever'.

The scene then cuts to Odie, Garfield, and Al jumping around the park. Some kids can also be seen chasing after the trio as well. In the park, there can be seen a bodybuilder standing near a trampoline, alongside a teenage girl and Freddy Applegate. Odie and Garfield then suddenly jumped onto the trampoline, and then being launched into the sky. Al then also jumps onto the trampoline, but then falls into the city pound. Odie and Garfield then can be seen in space, with both characters waving at the camera. Afterwards, both of them suddenly fall towards the earth, and jumped back onto the trampoline.

Odie then hits a water tower, alongside Garfield, who then pushes the bean out through Odie's mouth. Jon then catches the falling bean, and encloses it in the glass jar, throwing it in the trash bin afterwards. In the next scene, Garfield can be seen in the backyard, eating a sandwich. The bean can also be seen handing out food to Garfield. Afterwards, the bean then bounces towards the back door. Garfield then remarks that 'if it doesn't work out, I can always make soup out of it.' The episode then ends with the credits.
