"Make a wish Liz and blow out the candles", says Jon. But Liz certainly doesn't wish to be turned into a mouse and her boyfriend to marry a young witch...
Plot[]
It is Liz's birthday tonight! Jon is cooking nice dishes including a sweet potatoe pie... that Garfield has just engulfed. Jon attempts as he may and chases Garfield round the house but Mrs. Cauldron, a witch who loves sweet potatoe pies herself, lets Garfield hide behind her before introducing Winona, her niece, to Jon. Winona immediately dotes upon Jon: she wishes to marry him! So she steals her aunt's book of spells and broom, flies to Jon's, changes Liz into a mouse, shrinks Jon down to 6 inches and takes him to the Tower of Witchery for them to be wed! A cartoonist in my family? No way! Deprived of her broom, Mrs. Cauldron takes her vaccum cleaner and flies off with Garfield and Odie to the Tower...
This episode marks the first appearance of Winona.
Squeak's memory was not wiped at the end of the episode.
Two allusions to June Foray are made in the episode:
Garfield comments on the familiarity of Mrs. Cauldron's voice.
The head witch tells Garfield and Odie that they could have been turned into a moose and squirrel.
Cultural references[]
The raven says "Nevermore" multiple times throughout the episode, a reference to a poem by Edgar Allen Poe, titled The Raven. In said poem, the titular character can only say one word: Nevermore.
