Ed is a light brown cat, who had lived his whole life in a tree with squirrels. Garfield meets Ed when his "Primal instincts" tell him to climb a tree. Ed's family in the tree consists of his mother and Ted, introduced as his twin brother that "Mom always liked best" both of these are squirrels. Garfield offers him to visit the ground, where Ed discovers new sensations (walking sideways, fear of low places...). However, when he starts to miss his mother, he ultimately decides to return to the tree.
