Douce Arlène (Eng. Sweet Arlene) is the eleventh episode of Garfield Originals.

Synopsis

Five scenarios presenting Garfield's relationship with Arlene.

Plot

The first scenario has Arlene wanting to dance with Garfield. She wakes him up and signals what she wants. Garfield ignores her, and covers himself with the blanket, much to Arlene's displeasure. She is able to bribe Garfield with a donut, and the two begin to dance. It goes smoothly until Nermal grabs the donut and runs away. The theft infuriates Garfield, who drops Arlene to the ground and runs after Nermal, annoying Arlene.

The second scenario shows Arlene and Garfield walking down the neighborhood street. The two are confronted by a big vicious dog. Both are frightened, having Arlene hide behind Garfield. She pushes Garfield to deal with the adversary. The dog molds Garfield into a ball, and throws him through a basketball hoop. The dog is amused, but is then beaten up by Arlene, who throws him into the hoop. Disappointed, Arlene approaches Garfield and dribbles him back up the street.

The third scenario begins with Arlene preparing donuts, biscuits in bowls, and a warm drink for both her and Garfield. She rings a bell for Garfield, who appears and both begin to eat their food. Garfield finishes his, and decides to embrace Arlene to gradually eat her snacks. Arlene initially thinks Garfield is being compassionate until he grins, showing sweets in between his teeth. He then flees, leaving Arlene annoyed.

In the fourth scenario, Garfield and Arlene are strolling through the neighborhood. They stop at a door, and Garfield nonchalantly enters the pet door. Arlene is disgusted by his action, and refuses to follow. Garfield reappears and questions why she hasn't followed him inside. She gestures that she had expected Garfield to let her pass first. Garfield exits the house, and allows Arlene to enter the pet flap. He then decides to walk away instead of entering, having Arlene question where Garfield is.

The final scenario is downtown at night, where Garfield has taken Arlene for a date. They approach a trash can next to a couple of crates and a fruit stand. Garfield opens the can, which disgusts Arlene. Before she can leave, Garfield offers her a crate as a seat while he sits on another. He takes food out of the trash can, as well as two small jars in lieu of glasses, much to Arlene's pleasure. Garfield then kicks the fruit stand, and is provided with two oranges. He squeezes the oranges' juice into the jars, and the two stand up. Garfield opens the wooden fence and the two make a toast over the full moon.
