An untitled action video game based on Garfield was in production for the Atari 5200 console. The game was cancelled in the wake of the 1983 video game crash, along with many other games that were being produced by Atari, including a Garfield title for the Atari 2600. The amount of work completed for the game is unknown, although all coding for it was done.
The game would have had players control Garfield to collect plates of lasagna, which would form a tower. Mice served as obstacles by attempting to trip Garfield. Players would also need to try to balance the tower as it became bigger and less stable.
The game was programmed by Judy Bogart, with help from Landon Dyer. According to Dyer, the physics for the lasagna tower part of the game was working properly.
