Synopsis[]

When snowmen are telling jokes, Garfield might eventually have fun, even in the cold mountains far away from the civilization.

Plot[]

Jon and his pets are travelling by plane. Garfield is showing signs of frustration - he wiggles his toes, keeps arms crosses, moans, the he starts kicking his feet. Jon and Odie are sitting nearby. Garfield says four times consequtively, that he wants to be at home. The winter landscape in the ground does not seem to impress Garfield. The aircraft lands safely and the passengers debus. Jon, Garfield, and Odie are dressed for the season. Jon expresses freedom from civilization amendments and his will to commune with the wilderness and Mother Nature. Garfield shows considerable less enthusiasm by stating that Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor, for he feels cold, tired, and starving because he has not eaten for ten minutes. Jon declares that after marching seven miles, they shall reach his cousin Bill's cabin, where their lodging awaits. Garfield claims he cannot make it through, then Odie cheers him up. Garfield replies that since he is just an ordinary cat, his only exercise is working the DVD player's remote control.

The protagonists reach the top of the hill. Jon is admiring the natural landscape surrounding them, then he states that they are only three miles from their destination point. Garfield complains about the distance and the travel's pace being far too slow for him. Sliding down the hill changes his mind about the travel speed, when he roughly lands near the cabin. He expresses his wish to go home, then he hits the cabin's chimney and states, that Santa Claus never had such trouble despite his posture. Jon and Odie enter the cabin. Jon suggests his pets to go outside and have fun. Garfield declares that he is not going anywhere after complaining about the rustic conditions they have to live in for the time being. Jon and Odie leave outside and Garfield slams the door after them, causing snow to cover them. With the cabin for himself, Garfield rests on a chair in front of the open fire. The warm atmosphere brings him slumber, while Jon and Odie are having fun outdoors.

The narrator reveals himself, commenting on Garfield resting without owner and fellow dog. Garfield overhears the talk and he discovers, that the narrator is present in the episode. After brief chat, Garfield resumes his sleep having told the Narrator to keep his voice deep. With Garfield snoring, the Narrator skips to Jon and Odie. Jon slams into the tree. The accident does not hamper him much, for Jon begins to sing the Anti-Grumpy song. When Jon is done with singing, Garfield wakes up. It turns out that the fire inside the cabin has burned away and the room got colder. When Garfield asks, why did the area become so cold, the Narrator replies him in a rude way, that Garfield did not sustain the fire. Garfield expresses his rage. The Narrator attempts to blame the person, who wrote the episode's dialouges, then he declares that the story is about to have its first twist and farewells Garfield in French. Garfield gets confused, when the Narrator's voice disappears and Paddy the Leprechaun appears from the trap door behind the fireplace. Upon meeting with Garfield, Paddy explains himself that he was travelling to Hawaii, but he took one of those wrong turns at Albuquerque and made it to the area Garfield is resting with Jon and Odie. Garfield replies that he wishes he was in Hawaii. After looking around the area, Paddy asks Garfield, if he would go with him to the Hawaii. Garfield initally agrees, but on second thought, he rejects the idea because he does not wish to ruin Jon's holidays. Paddy states indirectly that he understands and farewells Garfield. Before leaving, he tells Garfield that in case the orange cat changed his mind, he has to open the door Paddy shows and call Paddy thrice in a row. Garfield is left wondering about his situation.

Back in the outdoors, Jon and Odie are building a snowman. The progress goes smoothly - Jon adds a hat to the sculpture, then he grabs Odie, so his dog can place the carrot in the snowman's head. When the snowman is completed, Garfield approaches Jon and Odie. Jon asks his cat, how does he like the snowman Jon built with Odie and named it "Boris". Garfield replies that he is hungry. Jon reassures Garfield, that he and Odie were fishing in the ice earlier and they caught something. The night falls and the protagonists have returned to the cabin. The snow stopped falling, but Garfield remains in a bad mood. It turns out that Jon caught canned spinach in lieu of actual fish. The animals complain about the meal, however, Odie eats his portion. Only Garfield refuses to have his share. In an act of exasperation, Garfield asks Jon if they have real food. Jon replies, that they need to get the weather forecast report first. The Narrator reappears without a warning, this time he is speaking through the radio. Instead of an actual weather forecast report, he announces that Mars, Jupiter and Venus will align with Earth and such a conjunction shall have a direct effect on the story and make for another quirky plot twist. Garfield replies that he hopes this twist will be a good one, then he consumes his spinach. The food has apparently gotten so cold that Garfield cannot eat it. He violently spits it away, with the recoil causing him to collapse from the chair. Jon and Odie are having fun at Garfield's expense. After the failed dinner, Jon and Odie are watching the night sky with a portable telescope Jon brought with himself. The planets are indeed aligning as the Narrator expressed. Jon admires the sight, so does Odie when handed the telescope. Garfield remains unimpressed at all, he is just wondering if the plot twist involves a dinner. Jon and Odie return to the cabin. The occupants elect to sleep the night. Jon is occupying the couch and sleeps without a blanket. Garfield has brought his bed with himself and he is smiling for the first time since he met with Paddy. Garfield's slumber gets interrupted by Odie, who is visibly distressed.

Garfield refuses to go outside with Odie due to cold temperature, but Odie remains persistent. He shows Garfield a groove in the snow, . It looks like traces of someone rolling a giant snowball, just without the tracks of the person pushing the snowball. Garfield elects to check the area with Odie. After a brief investigation, it turns out that Boris the Snowman disappeared. Garfield states that this must be the second plot twist the Narrator was talking about. The Narrator's voice appears for the third time in the episode, admitting that Garfield is right. While Garfield and Odie remain confused, the Narrator states that the writers have really outdone themselves. Garfield verbally forces the Narrator to leave, so he does as he is told. Garfield and Odie are following the trail after Boris the Snowman. After a considerable amount of time, they reach the end of the groove and hear unfamiliar voices. It turns out that Jon's pets have stumbled upon what appears to be snowmen's gathering. Boris is present there, telling a joke to another snowman, named Olaf. The remaining snow constructs apparently find the joke amusing, while Garfield and Odie do not. Garfield reveals himself at the snowmen gathering and begins with asking, if they are real. Boris admits, that they indeed are. Garfield finds out, that the snowmen have been brought to life by a ray of light and calls such a coincidence "the laziest screen-writing trick in the book". Boris ends this debacle claiming that he is thrilled to be alive. Olaf agrees with him, while Odie remains confused throughout the scene. Garfield replies with a remark about snowballs being snowmen children. The recipients laugh in not a jolly way. Olaf creates a snowball from his body and hurls it at Garfield. The cat dodges the snowball. Garfield wishes Olaf having his nose eaten by a rabbit, so Boris hurls own snowball at Garfield. The cat avoids this projectile as well. The scene ends with Garfield and Odie fighting the snowmen with snowballs. At one point, Garfield gets pinned down with snowball barrage and Boris pulls Odie out of his hat like a magician. The pets slide down a hill on the snowmen's backs and get attacked with snowballs soon after.

The fun comes to an end and Jon's pets return to the cabin they are occupying. Boris and Olaf are complimenting the day being exciting. Olaf adds that he is starving and he could use an iceberger, causing his company to laugh. Garfield and Odie farewell their new friends upon returning to the cabin. Olaf wishes Garfield and Odie to sleep warm, then Garfield replies that he wishes the snowmen sleeping cold. Both parties consider this as a good joke. Time passes. Garfield is seen sleeping in his bed inside the cabin. Suddenly, the Narrator surprises him once again using the radio as a transmitter. It turns out that winter is over and the temperatures are rising quickly, which means it is time to go home. Jon declares he shall do that, then he turns the radio off and tells his pets that they are leaving. Garfield and Odie go outside to check, how are their snowmen friends faring. Boris and Olaf are suffering from spring thaw and melting. Garfield tells them, that it was a pleasure to know them and he considers them as cool. Boris replies, that they are melting and Olaf adds, that by the end of the day, they shall completely melt. Garfield and Odie express their sadness. Garfield tells his companion to chill and returns to the cabin. Jon is packed for return trip, but Garfield tells him to wait. The cat calls Paddy's name thrice in a row, which summons him. Paddy believes that Garfield changed his mind, until Garfield explains that he has another idea. He whispers something to Paddy, who reluctantly agrees to help. Garfield and Odie push the snowmen through the tunnel. The Irish leprechaun uses his folks' magic to teleport Boris and Olaf to the safe place, where they cannot melt. Garfield manages to tell his snowmen friends to write him from the trip.

Jon and his pets are back home. Garfield and Odie have received a postcard from Boris and Olaf, who have found new home at the North Pole. They invite Garfield and Odie to visit them in their new home. Garfield expresses happiness, that Boris's and Olaf's story ended well and declares, that he is considering to forgive the Narrator. The Narrator reveals himself for the last time in the episode and thanks Garfield. The orange cat precises, that he did say that he may forgive. The episode ends.
