Booker Chick[1] (voiced by Frank Welker) is one of the main characters and a chick from U.S. Acres named by Orson for the pig's enjoyment of books. (Booker's comment to Orson about his name: "I'm just glad you don't love kumquats!" (May 23, 1986)
His and Sheldon's mother say that she was sick of hatching eggs and needed a vacation. (May 6, 1986) Booker and Sheldon were still eggs when Orson found them abandoned and decided to hatch them. Nobody in the barnyard knows what happened to their parents.
Physical appearance[]
Booker is a yellow chick, with two dotted eyes and an orange beak. Noted by the others for his short height, he has a plump body with short legs and large orange two-toed feet. In the comic strip, he has three fingers, while in Garfield and Friends, he has four fingers. Whenever shocked, scared, sneaky, or angry, Booker gains visible white sclera, identical to the other U.S. Acres characters. He is often shown to have teeth, despite being a bird.
Personality[]
Booker is extremely adventurous, outspoken, and he is sensitive about his height. He often chases worms, but can never seem to catch them, which aggravates him to no end. Though he does occasionally get even with the worms in the comics. When Orson reads him and Sheldon bedtime stories, Booker usually wants to revamp them to make them less boring and girly. Despite this, even he has his limits with the revisions, as during one story when Roy and Wade began adding their revisions to the story, it eventually reached a point where even the chick thought the fun was ruined. Booker also did not revise Chloe’s story despite his protests.
In the comic, he often called Orson "Mom", but in the cartoon, when it is discovered how Booker and his brother were hatched, he calls him "Mommy".
