Overview

Barking Mad (FRFlag Un aboiement entĂȘtant) is the 38thUS/EU episode from the fourth season of The Garfield Show.

Synopsis[]

Garfield explains to the viewers his situation involving a special collar that is tasked with discouraging the wearer from barking.

Plot[]

Jon comes by to the city pound where Al the Dogcatcher was expecting him. Jon is there to pick up Garfield who is tied up in a straitjacket. Noticing the viewer, Garfield asks them to rewind the episode 12 hours prior to explain what happened.

Earlier that day, Garfield was enjoying his day when he was constantly interrupted by Odie's barking. Looking for a solution, Garfield goes onto the computer and finds an ad for an anti-barking collar; a collar to put on dogs that discourages dogs from barking. Once he gets the collar, Garfield tries putting it on Odie which does not work. After reading the instructions booklet Garfield tries to put it on himself which works, but can not seem to get it off his neck. Even worse is that the collar would activate and humiliate Garfield whenever a dog barks in his vicinity.

With Jon not returning in six hours, Garfield gags and bounds all the dogs in the neighborhood and attempts to watch TV to keep the collar from activating. The collar activates when he changes the channel to a dog show and when the other dogs start chasing him for gagging them. When a little girl shows her a toy dog to Garfield, a hidden propeller activates in the collar which takes Garfield around the city and into the park where the dog show was taking place.

Al eventually catches Garfield and takes him to the pound in a straitjacket where Jon comes to pick him up. Jon manages to get the collar off of Garfield by pressing a certain button. He accidentally locks it on his neck while trying to demonstrate how to get it off. Not wanting to deal with the collar anymore, Garfield attempts to leave, but accidentally enters the room where Al keeps the stray dogs in. The dogs chase Garfield while Al tries to capture them and Jon is taken for a ride by the collar.

Trivia[]

  • The interior and exterior of the city pound have been altered; while two of the three signs of the dog behind bars have been replaced with luminous signs showing a dog and a cat, the interior has been expanded to include a room for cats and other animals (which looks identical to Liz's veterinary practice).
