(Morning at the Arbuckle house as Garfield throws an alarm clock out of the bedroom window.)
Garfield: And don’t come back until you learn to stop waking me up! (Goes down and he walks out of his room.)
Squeak: Morning, Garfield!
Garfield: Morning, Squeak. Whoever invented the alarm clock should be dragged into the street and beaten.
Squeak: Hi again, Garfield!
Garfield: Hi again, Squeak. Nah, it's too good for him. Instead, they should make him sleep with an alarm clock nearby.
Squeak: Hi one more time, Garfield!
Garfield: Hi one more time, Squeak. (gasps) I’m getting an awful lot of Squeak this morning. I'll figure out what’s going on after breakfast...uh, make that after lunch. Huh?
(Mice are playing at the kitchen, at the sink, and in the fridge. Garfield reacts in shock.)
Garfield: We seem to have a mouse convention in progress. Oh well. It’s not my problem...
(Mice eat Garfield’s breakfast; they stop and run away)
Garfield: Wha?
(3 zooms before stopping)
Garfield: (snarl) This is my problem. Squeak!
(Squeak appears in front of Garfield)
Squeak: You "Squeak"?
Garfield: Ahem. Look at what's in my dish.
Squeak: There’s nothing in your dish.
Garfield: My point exactly. (He blinks. Then he grabs Squeak angrily, growling.)
Squeak: Oh please, Garfield, old pal, old friend, please! Be understanding!
Garfield: You ate my breakfast.
Squeak: All these mice, my cousins and uncles and nephews, they had no place else to go.
(Mice play an orchestra. They stop and gasp as Garfield eyes them.)
Squeak: They all lived in a big house down the block that just got torn down.
Garfield: You ate my breakfast.
Squeak: I couldn't just turn them away. I couldn't just send them out into the cold, cruel snow.
(Garfield looks outside, where it is bright and sunny.)
Garfield: It's 92 degrees outside. And you still ate my breakfast.
Squeak: Look, Garfield, if you let us stay, we'll behave. We can help out, do things for you, uh, be your servants.
Garfield: Servants? Servants would be nice.
(Mice cheer)
