Why? The U.S Acres were comical and I feel the 2D style of Garfield and Friends is much better than the Garfield Show's CGI 3D style.
The problem is that U.S. Acres segments were only really good during Seasons 5 & 7. Personally, I think the characters look good in cGI. I do also love Garfield & Friends, just prefer this show.
TGF all the way! I love how much the animators focus on the other characters more than Garf sometimes. I also love the new characters like Eddie Gourmand and Doc Whipple!
I am surprised that that Garfield show is winning
How so? The Garfield Show is amazing?
I don’t like it very much
Alright, I love The Garfield Show. However, I'll explain why:
It's true, that during Seasons 1 & 2 the show was very "meh". Especially during Season 1, and the countless animation errors in Season 2. However, personally I don't believe Animation must be good for a show to be enjoyable. However, Season 3 fixes a lot of these problems, with better animation, better writing (due to the inclusion of Mark Evanier as the main writer and having a smaller writing team).
Although, there are still some good or solid episodes in Season 2, "Pirate Gold", "Me, Garfield and I", "Great Pizza Race", etc.
Both.
The only reason I can think of for why TGF is winning is that it appeals to younger viewers, who make up a good portion of this wiki's userbase. True, TGF has a lot of "out-there" plots, and some action setpieces every now and then, and a lot more low-brow humour. But it's just not Garfield. Garfield isn't a series about a cat and dog who save the world multiple times a week and are best friends with the local food critic and save animals from zoos. Garfield is a series about a sad nerd who hangs out at home all day with his pets, and the humour is built around that. Garfield and Friends just speaks to the core of the Garfield franchise in my opinion, in addition to having way better voice acting and animation. Yeah, there are some episodes where aliens land in Jon's backyard or Garfield gets sucked into the TV, but most of the episodes are just about relatively mundane things that could happen in a normal neighbourhood, and the wacky zany sci-fi episodes are usually the show's weakest.
Plus, I never understood why everyone hates the U.S. Acres segments. Sure, some of them can drag on for a bit, and the songs aren't always that great, but the simpler characters make for really reliable jokes that are easy to set up, and as a result they never go too long without a funny gag or slapstick moment to break up the pace.
@Murnjendoof To be fair, U.S Acres are only really good starting with Seasons 3 & 4. Although, it has nothing to do with younger audiences really, people just enjoy it. Although, I feel like the sc-fi thing only applies to Seasons 1 & 2. However, even in Garfield and Friends, he wasn't staying at home the whole day.
P.S: The animation of the show is great after Season 3.
What do you think?
