What is considered canon in the Garfield universe. I'm pretty sure kaboom Garfield is in the Garfield multi-verse not the universe.

Since Jim Davis approved the KaBoom! comics into the circulation, they actually belong to the Garfield canon.

The setting differences between storylines aren't a factor here - it's actually an American standard, that series from one franchise often don't correspond with one another.

Have a look at such Heroes of Might and Magic - the original storyline from HoMM1, 2, and 3 was broken in HoMM4 and the later parts were made in a complete different setting than the originals.

Since you claim that PAWS Inc. is above Jim Davis, who founded PAWS Inc. and agreed for KaBoom comics publications.

I don't know how does trade and company law work in the United States - in Europe, we have a rule that a founder of a company, who has the power of chairman and exective is above the company that person founded. According to European company law, Jim Davis would be above PAWS Inc., therefore he'd have rights to make deals with other companies.

I'm certain that American trade/company law doesn't differ from our European regulations in those matters.

In short - KaBoom comics books are canon.

Look what I'm trying to say is that the Garfield Show was based off of the original Garfield series and kaboom Garfield was based off the Garfield Show which was based off of the original Garfield comic. In America if something like that happens its considered to far from the story line to actually be considered canon. Thats why I said it belongs the multiverse

The only person eligible to determine what belongs to the Garfield canon and what doesn't belong to it, is Garfield's creator - Jim Davis.

What Jim Davis approved as officially licenced product is an officially licenced product. Had he disapproved the Garfield motion pictures, the KaBoom comics books, merchandise, or whatever product advertising Garfield, those could've been considered as non canon.

I don't recall aby statement made by Jim Davis about renouncing motion pictures or publications created do far, no matter how do those correspond with the original comic strips. It's unlikely that Davis or the current owners of written and animated series will renounce them, not as long as those generate profit.
